Preparation and installation of the Pandora 3500 system

Removing the instrument panel

At the very beginning of the installation, we first need to remove the additional panels that are located in our car (in the cabin), we also remove the facing panel on the left side (which is located near the front windshield), the steering column trim and the air duct panel. If you do not want to remove the above structures, you can place the alarm under sound insulation, in the area of the pedal assembly in the engine compartment of the car. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, as well as all system connectors. To install the alarm we need the following tool:

  • Scissors
  • Screwdriver
  • Soldering iron
  • Drill.

Installing the Base Unit

Base unit, general view

As a rule, the Pandora DXL 3500 car alarm, reviews of which are presented on the website, is initially installed from the central unit. The base unit is screwed to the rear surface of the engine compartment after removing all the necessary panels. It should be noted that the main (base) alarm unit, like other elements, must be securely attached and located in an unsightly and hard-to-reach place. After all the necessary work on installing the base unit has been completed, the cable (USB) is removed from it. This must be done in order to be able to connect to a PC and program.

Where is the RF module installed?

The RF module is installed in the vehicle interior. From this module a passage is made to the main (base) block, and an LED indicator is also displayed. The RF module is installed on the windshield under the rear view mirror.

Installation of alarm sensors

Installing a Shock Sensor

We attach the sensor that reacts to impacts to the steering column of the car. We install a microphone on the standard mount under the engine. We install a sensor that responds to temperature on the air duct and secure it with a base bolt.

Installation of alarm wiring

We lay the wiring

We install wiring

On the website for installation and instructions for use of Pandora DXL 3500, reviews contain the following recommendations: it is best to use soldering of the wiring, but twisting can also be used. The soldering method is more reliable and allows for better fastening of wires. To solder wiring, lead-tin solder is usually used.

It is imperative to take into account the fact that the material of the conductors must be identical. This will increase the service life of the wiring. In order to avoid the accumulation of condensation at the soldering points, they must be placed above the other wires. The alarm wiring should not be susceptible to temperature effects of vehicle components, friction, and should be placed hidden under the vehicle's upholstery elements. In the car engine compartment, the wiring is placed in special corrugations.

Wiring connection

Typical connection diagram

Next, we need to connect all the alarm elements and connect them to the main (base) unit. The connection of all elements must be carried out strictly in accordance with the instructions, in the order prescribed by the documentation attached to the alarm. All alarm elements must be properly and securely fastened and hidden.

System programming

PC connection

Connecting to a computer via USB

Alarm Pandora 3500, reviews explain to us how to connect the alarm to a computer. To do this, we will use the USB cable that we brought from the main alarm unit. If you have completed all the steps correctly, then when you connect the cable to your computer (laptop), the indicator will blink green.

Entering PIN code

Attention!!! Please note that the interval of pressing the button should be no more than 1 second.

If the interval is greater, then the system perceives this as the end of entering a number. After we have entered the PIN code, the indicator will flash green and red. This means entering alarm programming mode.

Firmware installation

Screenshot of the site with the necessary firmware

To view the current firmware version, you need to open the dxl Loader window. On the website alarmtrade.ru in the service section, in the firmware and instructions section, we can download a new firmware version for our alarm system. To do this, we are looking for firmware for our Pandora DXL 3500 model and downloading the latest version.

Next, in the dxl Loader window, we select the “download” section, then the “firmware download” item. Next, we should select the location on the PC’s hard drive where we downloaded the firmware from the site. Select the firmware with the pld extension and click “download”. During the installation of the firmware, under no circumstances should you press or disconnect anything.

After the firmware has been installed, we need to enter the PIN code.

Setting up the CAN interface

The Concept Sound technical center provides a guarantee both for the equipment and for the quality of the work it carries out.

This system, for the first time in the world, is implemented on a 32-bit microcontroller with an ARM/Cortex core, which allowed developers to achieve outstanding results in processing streams of standard CAN buses of modern cars, calculations associated with the increased cryptographic strength of the dialog coding algorithm, and mathematical processing of signals from a highly sensitive three-coordinate accelerometer, which has built-in shock/tilt/vehicle motion sensors with unprecedentedly high protection against false alarms without compromising sensitivity. The system demonstrates the numerous advantages of our integral approach in ergonomics of use, speed of response to commands and events, correct operation in standard digital buses of cars, energy efficiency, range of dialogue communication, cryptographic strength of the updated version of dialogue coding, real noise immunity from radio interference of modern cities.

The system has 12 independent programmable channels, any of which can be assigned to any event, both the security and service system itself and events occurring in the vehicle’s CAN bus, eliminating the need to use a separate CAN module to connect additional devices from other manufacturers (GSM -modules, hood locks, door pins, immobilizers, satellite monitoring and search modules, GPS/Glonass trackers, etc.). The flexibility of system settings allows you to implement the highest anti-theft and service functionality available today on the market of automotive security and service systems from the world's leading manufacturers.

Of course, the built-in LIN port, which supports the protocols of some car brands, is of interest.

Pandora DXL 3500 has an expanded event memory (up to 100) with a non-volatile calendar and real-time clock module. Not only alarm events and disarming/arming events appeared in the list of events, but also records of triggering of preliminary sensor levels, engine start/stop events, records of engine start/stop problems, etc.

The circuitry of the base unit uses an integrated, highly efficient pulse power supply voltage converter from Linear (Japan), which made it possible to achieve an absolute record of energy efficiency (18 mA) with record high functionality (integrated full-featured CAN bus controller, constantly working built-in accelerometer, high range of dialog communication, constant monitoring of communication with the key fob, etc.).

The base unit of the system is equipped with a mini-USB connector that allows you to connect directly to a computer or Netbook for programming the system, updating software and reading the extended event log. When programming the base unit, power is supplied to it directly from the computer's USB port, which makes the process more convenient.

The system today supports more than 150 CAN protocols of various cars, covering all mass-produced cars sold in Russia, more than 50 of them in an expanded streaming mode, with analysis of a variety of parametric information. The support group is constantly working to read and check CAN protocols and advanced telemetry of all new products in the automotive industry and possible modifications of popular brands. You can update the software with the most modern set of CAN and LIN protocols at any time from the manufacturer’s website.

The processing of information from digital CAN and LIN buses, implemented on a single controller with basic functionality, clearly distinguishes the work of our deeply integrated processing methods from systems from other manufacturers with discrete CAN modules built into the base unit.

Stream processing, operating at the speed of the bus itself, has the ability to comprehensively analyze the situation, make requests and adjust the commands sent by the system to the bus in accordance with the situation. The result of the implementation of our streaming algorithms for working in the bus was a greater speed of response to commands, an expansion of possible, correctly executed commands, the ability to work on high-speed buses without limiting functionality, and an unrivaled range of service functions performed by CAN commands on premium cars.

Pandora DXL 3500 is another innovative new product from our company, confirming the company’s status as a leader in technological developments. This time - with a gap of years from the closest technological competitors around the world. This product is superior in technical implementation to the standard electrical equipment of any modern car, has the highest reliability, and is produced using the latest European equipment at our new production facility in Kaluga.

The ergonomics of use and functionality of the product will please the most demanding consumer, and will certainly appeal to any, the most competent and demanding professional installer. During installation and operation, Pandora DXL 3500 will not cause harm to the standard equipment of the car (thanks to its “transparency” for standard diagnostics), and will not cause trouble when serviced in branded car services of any premium brands of modern cars.

Completely developed and manufactured in Russia, Pandora DXL 3500 is the first model of a new family of highly functional, next-generation automotive security and service systems, which our company will continue to delight its consumers in the coming years.

Since March 2014, an updated line of Pandora DXL 3210/3500/3700 car security and service systems has gone on sale.

The updated product line uses a more modern key fob with an LCD display, the D-074, which, while maintaining the design loved by users, has new circuitry with a single-board design and higher reliability. At the same time, the key fob has a more advanced radio path with an AES128 interactive encryption algorithm with a narrower bandwidth and an optimized frequency grid of working broadcast channels. The systems are also equipped with another additional key fob R304.

The systems also received a new RF module RFM390, which has more compact dimensions, as well as a flat connection cable to the base unit, which increases the reliability of the radio channel part of the system.

These measures made it possible to significantly increase the stability and range of the radio channel. Especially in large cities with a large number of operating wireless networks (3G, LTE) with a simultaneous reduction in the power transmitted over the air, as well as the overall reliability and consumer qualities of popular car security systems without changing their final cost.

Updated systems have the index “i” (3210i, 3500i, 3700i). They can be distinguished by the software version, which is indicated on a special paper sticker (pasted on the box, in the instruction manual, as well as on the back side of the base unit), or in the upper left corner of the DXL Loader program when connecting a system in settings mode:

  • for 3210i systems – version no lower than v.802
  • for 3500i systems – version no lower than v.845
  • for 3700i systems – version no lower than v.74

Replacing the battery in the key fob The LCD display of the key fob has an indication of low battery. The battery must be replaced if the key fob does not turn on or the discharge indicator starts blinking.

In addition, the need to replace the battery will be indicated by the key fob switching to an economical audio confirmation mode. Instead of playing melodies, the key fob will emit short single-tone signals. In this case, notification of alarming events will sound as usual - with a multi-tone loud signal, but without turning on the vibration detector.

To replace the battery:

Slide the battery cover in the direction indicated by the arrow;

Remove the battery from the battery compartment and install a new one;

The key fob is ready for use (turn it on by pressing the button for three seconds).

ATTENTION!!! Also, the need to replace the battery is indicated by the constantly working vibration detector of the key fob. If the key fob constantly vibrates, it means the battery charge is insufficient to continue normal operation. Replace the battery immediately!

ATTENTION!!! The operating time of the key fob before replacing the battery depends on the quality of the battery. The best capacity indicators are provided by AAA DURACELL and ENERGIZER elements. When purchasing a new battery, pay attention to the production date and expiration date. Low-quality elements from little-known companies, expired batteries, batteries with improper storage temperature conditions (unfortunately, a common occurrence) may have many times less residual capacity. The nominal capacity of the AAA element is no worse than 1000 mAh. With such a capacity, the element ensures the operation of the Pandora DXL key fob in real use for at least 6 months.

When the alarm is turned on, the icon lights up continuously on the display. When the alarm goes off within a minute, a short alarm signal (double beep) sounds every 2 seconds and the icon flashes. To turn off the signal early, you need to briefly press any button on the key fob.

Checking the number of key fobs registered in the system

This security system has a command channel with a dialog structure of the code transmitted at high speed and the generation of riddles by a random number generator, which completely eliminates the interception and selection of the code by attackers.

The only possibility of intercepting control is the possibility of adding an additional key fob to the system by an attacker. This is possible when transferring the car for temporary use or for maintenance along with the key fob. If you do not transfer the key fob, but use the “Vehicle Maintenance Mode” as recommended, then it will be impossible to record other key fobs. If the key fobs have been added, then the remaining key fob in your possession will no longer control the system and you will be able to file a claim with potential attackers or car service managers, after which you can register only your key fobs in the system (all key fobs registered in the system must be recorded during one programming session, since a change occurs and learning a new encryption key).

14/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru You can check the number of key fobs registered in the system by removing and putting back the battery terminal, while the system will notify by the number of siren sounds how many key fobs are registered. You can also check the number of key fobs by the number of orange flashes of the status indicator each time the ignition is turned on when the security is turned off. Periodically check the number of registered key fobs to be completely sure of the anti-theft resistance of the system.

Opening the trunk lock To open the trunk, regardless of whether the system is armed or not, you must press and hold the button for 1 second. If the system is armed, then simultaneously with the opening of the trunk lock, the trunk zone is excluded from the security circuit and the shock sensor is turned off, all other zones remain protected. If within 15 sec. after receiving a command to open the trunk, you have not opened the trunk, the system will close the locks, protect the trunk area and turn on the shock sensor, notifying you with one flash of the direction indicators.

After remotely unlocking the trunk in security mode, the system emits one siren signal every minute until the trunk is closed. After closing the trunk, the system will close the locks in 15 seconds, protect the trunk area and turn on the shock sensor, notifying you with one flash of the direction indicators. If the trunk is not closed within 2.5 minutes, the system will issue a warning message to the key fob without turning on the siren on the car and will turn on the shock sensor and an additional sensor.

Disarming the system

To disarm the system, you need to briefly press the key fob button, and you will hear two short beeps and see two flashes of the direction indicators if no alarm events occurred during the security period (a long press of the button, more than 1 second, will disarm the system without siren sounds).

The key fob will play the Disarming melody, the security system status icon will take the form corresponding to the current state. If alarming events occurred during the security period, the siren will give out four sound signals and four flashes of the direction indicators, and the key fob, having played the Disarming melody, will play the Attention melody and show the disturbed zones. You can view the history of alarm events in detail using the CHECK key fob command (see “Viewing the event history”).

–  –  –

To set the system to full security with the ignition off, briefly press the key fob button. In this case, you will hear one short siren signal, and the light indication will confirm the arming function with one flash of the direction indicators (long press, more than 1 second, arming will occur without sound signals from the siren). The key fob will play the “Arming” melody, and the security system status icon will take the form corresponding to the current state. If, when arming, a door, hood or trunk accidentally turns out to be open, or the side lights are turned on (not available on all vehicles), then the car siren will give out four beeps and four flashes of turn indicators instead of one short signal, and the key fob will play the melody Arming arm, will play the Attention melody and show an image of the zone due to which normal arming did not occur.

In this case, the sensor for this zone will be disabled. The sensor will be armed again after 15 seconds. after restoration of its functionality. In addition, when arming, the system ensures that the doors are locked and the engine is blocked.

The system can be installed on vehicles with a delay function for turning off the interior light (programmable function). If the function is enabled, then when arming the system will not respond to the door opening sensor for 15 seconds.

(factory setting, delay value can be changed 0-2 min.). When a zone is armed after a delay, the system key fob will emit two short beeps, indicating the transition to full protection of all zones of the vehicle. If the door is not closed after the delay time has elapsed, the key fob will issue an alarm notification.

The system allows you to use a delay in turning on the shock sensor and additional sensor when arming (the function is programmable). This feature allows you to correctly organize the control of power windows and eliminate false alarms of the shock sensor.

System operation in security mode

2. Motion sensor

24/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru When an alarm is triggered by one of the alarm events on the car, the siren turns on, the key fob with an LCD display plays the Alarm melody with maximum volume, and the zone that triggered the alarm is displayed on the indicator. Simultaneously with the sound of the sound signal, the vibration detector and a red flashing signal are turned on in the key fob. To turn off the alarm mode, briefly press the or button once. To turn off only the key fob alarm, briefly press the button.

When the warning level of an additional sensor is triggered, the system gives three sound and one light signals; the key fob will play the melody Attention, the icon will blink.

25/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru In the event of an unfavorable external situation at a car parking site, in which the work of the built-in adaptive means is not enough, the sensors or their levels can be turned off from the key fob with an LCD display.

Alarm Mode Features

If at the moment the alarm was activated, the system was in the security mode with the engine running or the Ignition Support mode, then the engine is blocked, and after the alarm ends, the system goes into full security mode. In other cases, after the alarm ends, the system returns to the previous security mode.

2. Motion sensor

3. On-board voltage sensor

4. Features of the alarm mode The main task of the system in the security mode is to control the sensors of the zones whose operation is permitted. All alarm events are recorded in the system's non-volatile memory (even if the system's power is immediately turned off) with a record of the exact time of the event. This allows you to display the history of events on the car alarm key fob after any time has passed without communication between the base unit and the key fob.

The system records only alarm events in the protocol, ignoring the recording of activation of preliminary sensor levels.

When an alarm is triggered by one of the alarm events on the car, the siren turns on, the key fob with an LCD display plays the Alarm melody with maximum volume, and the zone that triggered the alarm is displayed on the indicator. Simultaneously with the sound of the sound signal, the vibration detector and a red flashing signal are turned on in the key fob. To turn off the alarm mode, briefly press the or button once. To turn off only the key fob alarm, briefly press the button.

If the alarm signal was not accepted by the owner (by pressing any button), the key fob goes into reminder mode, in which three short beeps sound once a minute and the red ALARM flashing indicator flashes every four seconds. In the security mode, if the notification channel signal is stable and there are no alarm events during the security period, the green SEND flashing indicator flashes once every four seconds.

Shock sensor and additional sensor When the shock sensor warning level is triggered, the system emits three sound signals and one light signal; the key fob will play the melody Attention, the icon will blink.

When the alarm zone of the shock sensor is triggered for 30 seconds. Light and sound signals will turn on, the key fob will play the “Alarm” melody, and the icon will flash.

In security mode, the shock sensor monitors changing environmental noise conditions and adjusts its sensitivity from the initially set one, which reduces the number of false alarms.

When the warning level of an additional sensor is triggered, the system gives three sound and one light signals; the keychain will play a melody

–  –  –

When the alarm zone of the additional sensor is triggered for 30 seconds. Light and sound signals will turn on, the key fob will play the “Alarm” melody, and the icon will flash.

When a warning or alarm level of a shock sensor is triggered three times within a short period of time, the corresponding sensor level can be automatically temporarily disabled, the system will turn on the sensor automatically if the event that caused it to be disabled does not recur.

The sound signals produced by the siren in case of an alarm from the shock sensor and additional sensor can be canceled when programming the system.

In the event of an unfavorable external situation at a car parking site, in which the work of the built-in adaptive means is not enough, the sensors or their levels can be turned off from the key fob with an LCD display.

Motion sensor The system is equipped with a motion sensor, which in security mode monitors the absence of movement of the vehicle in the longitudinal and transverse directions. It will work when you try to lift the side of the car, as happens when using a jack, and it will work during any, even the most delicate, attempt to load the car onto a tow truck. When the motion sensor is triggered, the siren will turn on for 30 seconds, the key fob will play the “Alarm” melody, and the icon will flash.

On-board voltage sensor

The system is equipped with an on-board voltage sensor that constantly monitors the voltage level. The sensor allows the security system to correctly issue notifications when the battery voltage drops, preventing it from being completely discharged by the senseless repeated activation of light and sound alarms. If the power was lost completely (battery disconnection without disarming), the next switch-on will be accompanied by the activation of the alarm mode, and the event will be recorded in the event memory: a critical decrease in supply voltage with an indication of its time, the key fob will play the “Alarm” melody, the icon will flash.

In alarm mode for 30 seconds. Light and sound signals are turned on, as well as the warning system transmitter. At this time, the system will respond slowly to commands transmitted from the key fob, since most of the time the system is busy transmitting an alarm message, and pauses for receiving commands will be minimal.

Alarm Mode Features

28/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru If, at the moment the alarm was activated, the system was in the security mode with the engine running or the Ignition Support mode, then the engine operation is blocked, and after the alarm ends, the system goes into full security mode. In other cases, after the alarm ends, the system returns to the previous security mode.

Within 2 sec. the system will not respond to the state of the sensors, awaiting a command from the key fob (for example, disarming).

A sensor that caused the system to go into alarm three times in a row will be temporarily disabled. If the shock sensor warning level is triggered three times, the system will temporarily disable the sensor pre-level. The disabled sensor will be armed again after 15 seconds. after restoring its readiness state.

A sensor that has been triggered a total of 9 times will be disabled until the next time it is armed (except for the shock sensor warning level).

Locking/unlocking doors

–  –  –

The system controls the door locks, locking them when arming and unlocking them when disarming. When disarming and arming, a two-step mode for unlocking/locking doors is provided (programmable function, requires additional connections). The first press of the button will disarm the system and only the driver's door will open, and the second press will open all other doors.

When arming in two-step mode, the first pulse blocks the doors from unlocking them from the outside, and the second pulse from unlocking them from the inside.

There is a mode for automatically locking the doors when you start driving or when you turn on the ignition, and unlocking the doors when you turn off the ignition. 5 seconds after the ignition is turned on, the doors are automatically locked, and after the ignition is turned off, the doors are unlocked immediately (programmable function). If any door is opened after turning on the ignition, automatic locking will not occur - this is necessary to prevent the ignition keys from being locked inside the vehicle.

Doors can be locked and unlocked by force using the key fob without arming when the ignition is on. To do this, with the ignition on, you need to briefly press the button - the doors will close, and pressing the button will open the door locks.

3. Code immobilizer The built-in immobilizer function can operate in two modes (0 sec. and 25 sec.) and can be controlled either by an additional press of the key fob button or an additional iButton key (not included). The iButton key must touch a special contactor mounted in the vehicle to deactivate the immobilizer. If deactivation of the immobilizer is assigned to the iButton key, then pressing the key fob button will not deactivate the immobilizer.

Immobilizer function 0 sec. serves for additional anti-theft engine blocking. In this case, after disarming the system, you must press the button again so that the immobilizer allows you to start the engine (or touch the contactor with the iButton key).

Immobilizer function 25 sec. serves to prevent attempts to steal from a short-term parking place (at a gas station or at a roadside store), where it is not customary to arm/disarm the car. If within 25 sec. After disarming, opening the door or trunk, the ignition is not turned on, the system automatically blocks the engine from starting.

After the lock is turned on, the status indicator glows orange when the ignition is off and red when it is on. To exit the immobilizer mode, you need to press the key fob button (or touch the contactor with the iButton key), the status indicator will flash red and green alternately, and the lock will be disabled.

In immobilizer mode, all built-in, additional and code relays connected to the system are turned on. The function is programmable (Factory default mode: Off).

Code immobilizer Code immobilizer is a built-in function that allows you to disarm the system or control timer channels after disarming using a standard vehicle control element (button, lever or pedal). The possibility of using one or another standard control element depends on the make and model of the car.

To enter the “Immobilizer Code,” you must press the programmed button (lever or pedal) a number of times equal to the first digit, pauses between button presses should not exceed 1 second, pauses more than 1 second. are perceived by the system as the end of entering a digit and the transition to entering the next digit of the “Immobilizer Code” (“Immobilizer Code” can consist of a maximum of 4 digits from 1 to 9) After the immobilizer is entered correctly, the system will either be disarmed (similar to 41/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru master PIN code), or the programmed timer channel is activated. Which may be responsible for the operation of the engine and thereby performing blocking.

The assignment of a standard button (lever or pedal) and programming of the “Immobilizer Code” is carried out programmatically (see sublevels IV-6, 7.1).

HANDS-FREE mode

When the Pandora DXL3210 car alarm and the Pandect IS-471/477/577/590/600 immobilizer work together, it is possible to implement the HANDS FREE function, i.e. arming and disarming a vehicle without using a key fob. The car owner does not need to take any action to disable the alarm system and deactivate the anti-theft function, just bring the immobilizer key fob to the car. In the coverage area of the radio channel, an interactive high-speed exchange of authorization codes is carried out in the 2.4 GHz frequency range between the key fob and the engine blocking module, a disarming command is sent to the base alarm unit, and the immobilizer blocking is disabled.

When the HANDS FREE function is enabled, disarming occurs when the immobilizer key fob appears in the radio coverage area. Arming is carried out in the absence of a key fob tag in the radio coverage area for more than 10 seconds.

The system provides the ability to disable the security mode using this function only if the additional warning zone is violated. sensor (see programming manual).

The function is programmable (Factory setting of the HANDS FREE mode is off) “ANTI-HI-JACK” mode

1. Passive mode

2. Active mode Anti-Hi-Jack mode provides the ability to prevent attempts to seize a vehicle by force. It provides for the possibility of gradually blocking the car engine while driving.

There are two types of mode – “Active” and “Passive”. Passive mode is used if you are driving and a passenger is trying to take control of your vehicle. In this situation, you need to press the required button on the key fob and, having made sure from the signals of the status indicator that the Anti-Hi-Jack mode has turned on, leave the car at the slightest opportunity. The active mode is used if the seizure has already occurred, you are outside the car in the range of the key fob and the key fob remains with you.

In any case, the Anti-Hi-Jack mode will allow the thief to drive away to a safe distance for you, after which the security system will turn on the light and sound alarm and block the engine. It will take the attacker considerable time to unlock the system.

ATTENTION!!! The Anti-Hi-Jack mode is not a standard mode of the security system, as it involves a complete stop of the engine while the vehicle is moving and can lead to an accident. We strongly do not recommend using this mode. Responsibility for using this mode rests entirely with the owner of the vehicle. For some types of cars with an automatic transmission, the use of this mode is not recommended, as it may damage it.

Passive mode

Stage 1 (ready mode). The ignition must be turned on, the doors must be closed, and when receiving a threat from a passenger, discreetly press and hold the buttons and key fob for at least 1 second. The ready mode will turn on, the indicator will produce single short green flashes, and the icon will light up on the key fob display.

43/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru Stage 2 (countdown). If the driver is forced out of the car, opening any door and then closing all doors starts a 30 second countdown. Time is given for the car to move to a safe distance for the owner. During this time, the indicator flashes green continuously.

Stage 3 (blocking warning). After the 30 sec countdown time has elapsed. The warning signal of the siren and light alarm is turned on to avoid an emergency situation on the road. The car at this stage attracts attention and warns that the engine will be immediately blocked.

Stage 4 (engine blocking and alarm mode). The engine lock is activated, as well as for 30 seconds. The siren signal and light alarm are activated.

Stage 5 (security mode with ignoring key fob commands). The system will go into security mode, but control via key fobs will be temporarily disabled.

NOTE: At stage 1, you can turn off the “Anti-Hi-Jack” mode by pressing and holding the key fob button for at least 1 second, while all doors must be closed. In other cases, disabling this mode is possible only using the “Emergency disarming” procedure.

Active mode

Stage 1 (countdown). If the owner has already been forced to get out of the car, you must press and hold the buttons and the key fob simultaneously for at least 1 second. A 30-second countdown starts, which allows the car to move to a safe distance for the owner. During this time, the indicator produces single green flashes, and the icon on the key fob display begins to blink.

Stage 2 (blocking warning). After the countdown time has expired, for 30 seconds. The warning signal of the siren and light alarm is turned on to avoid an emergency situation on the road. The car at this stage attracts attention and warns that the engine will soon be blocked.

Stage 3 (engine blocking and alarm mode). The engine lock is activated, as well as for 30 seconds. siren signal and light alarm.

Stage 4 (security mode with ignoring key fob commands). The system will go into security mode, but control via key fobs will be temporarily disabled.

NOTE: Disabling this mode is only possible using the “Emergency disarming” procedure.

44/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru For security purposes, it is NOT RECOMMENDED to keep the alarm key fob and car keys on the same bunch.

When the system is delivered, Anti-Hi-Jack mode is disabled in the software settings.

To use it, you must set the corresponding programmable settings level setting to ENABLED.

Automatic and remote engine control Remote and automatic engine start, general information The Pandora DXL 3500 system allows you to remotely start the engine by command from the Remote Engine Start key fob or automatically start the engine using the pre-configured Automatic Engine Start function. Starting procedures are used to warm up the engine and interior of the vehicle, charge the battery, prepare the vehicle for intense driving, or to cool the interior of the vehicle with air conditioning.

Remote and automatic engine starting is possible only when the system is in security mode.

If the car is equipped with a manual transmission (manual transmission), then remote or automatic starting will occur only if the preparatory procedure Program Neutral was carried out before arming the car, to prevent the possibility of starting the engine while the gear is engaged and unauthorized movement of the car.

Remote and automatic engine starting on vehicles with an automatic transmission (automatic transmission) will only occur if the selector lever is in position P and the handbrake is applied.

When using the remote and automatic engine start modes, it is worth paying special attention to the reliability of fixing the car in the parking place with a hand brake or other means that limit possible movements of the car associated with vibrations of the running engine. Choose a place to park the car so that it is not on an inclined plane or the slope is insignificant.

The system, being in the remote and automatic engine start modes, continues to perform the functions of protecting all protected zones and sensors, turning off only the shock sensor. The motion sensor in this mode, on the contrary, is switched to a mode of increased sensitivity with a decrease in reaction time to movement. If, while in these modes, the system detects a violation of protected zones 45/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru (opening doors, hood, trunk, pressing the brake pedal, turning off the handbrake) or triggering a motion sensor, the engine will be immediately turned off and the system will switch into alarm mode. In this case, all engine locks will be activated.

The system, being in remote and automatic engine start modes, monitors engine operation in order to prevent damage to it according to the following parameters: oil pressure in the engine lubrication system; serviceability of the generator and availability of battery charging current; permissible engine crankshaft speed; permissible engine temperature (when installing an additional temperature sensor). If the parameters do not comply with the acceptable values, the system will immediately stop the engine and send a Malfunction notification to the system key fob.

One minute before the normal engine stop, a notification about this event will be sent to the key fob. The icon on the key fob will flash and once every 10 seconds. The melody will sound Engine stop in 1 minute.

Attention!!!

1. If the system is in remote or automatic start mode, or engine operation is supported by the “Turbo timer” or “Ignition support” modes, then to stop the engine, you must press and hold the button for at least 2 seconds. The engine will be stopped, which will be confirmed by the sound signal “Engine stopped” and the icon going out. A few seconds after stopping the engine, the shock sensor will be armed.

2. To disarm the system (in the mode of remote, automatic start, ignition support) and start driving, you must briefly press the button, the engine will run for no more than 1 minute, during this time insert the key into the ignition switch, turn it to position "IGN".

If, after a remote or automatic engine start, you re-send the engine start command from the key fob, the engine operating time will be increased by 5 minutes. This procedure can be performed many times.

Procedure "Software Neutral"

To avoid emergency situations when using remote and automatic engine start modes on vehicles with a manual transmission, a special preparatory procedure “Program Neutral” is provided.

If you plan to use remote or automatic engine start on a car with a manual transmission, then before arming the car 46/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru you must perform the following sequence of actions:

1. Without turning off the ignition, with the engine running, securely secure the car with the handbrake. Choose a place to park the car so that it is not on an inclined plane or the slope is insignificant. Make sure that the car's wheels are not in a state of unstable equilibrium, which could lead to spontaneous movement of the car when the engine vibrates.

2. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds (three short beeps from the key fob), when the button is released, the car siren will emit a single beep, confirming that the command has been completed.

3. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position (the engine should continue to run) and remove it from the lock.

4. Leave the car with the engine running and close the doors.

5. Within 1 minute, press the button briefly (with a confirmation siren signal) or long for 1 second. (silent) to set the system to security mode and lock the doors. The key fob display will show the rotation of the fan and indicate the security mode.

6. After 3 sec. the engine will be stopped and the system will go into normal security mode with all sensors, being ready to execute remote start commands or engine autostart functions.

If sublevel II-3.8 “Automatic activation of program neutral” is enabled, then the “Program neutral” procedure will be automatically performed when the handbrake is raised. Failure to comply with the “Program Neutral” procedure entails the system’s refusal to execute commands for remote and automatic engine start.

47/53 manuals.alarmtrade.ru Remote engine start To remotely start the engine, provided the system is ready to start, you must press and hold the button for three seconds (three short beeps from the key fob). A sound signal will confirm the receipt of the command, a crossed out shock sensor icon and a flashing fan icon will appear on the display, indicating that the engine is being prepared to start. After a few seconds, the engine will start, which will be indicated by the “Engine Start” sound signal and the rotating

In this case, the launch will be repeated for 5, 7, 14 days or an unlimited number of times (set programmatically in the system programming menu), regardless of the number of security cycles during this time, after which the mode is automatically deactivated.

Automatic engine start based on engine temperature The mode allows you to automatically start the engine based on its temperature and will operate if the mode is turned on in the key fob settings (START menu) and the start temperature is set.

Setting the engine warm-up time with automatic or remote

–  –  –

The engine warm-up time limit is set in the “START” menu of the key fob within the range of 0 – 60 minutes. It must be borne in mind that if the condition of stopping the engine upon reaching the set temperature is also activated, then the engine will stop if an earlier event occurs. The maximum warm-up time can be limited (Adjustable in the system programming menu. Factory default is 30 minutes).

Ignition support mode

The ignition support function in Pandora DXL allows you to leave the car with the engine running by removing the key from the ignition, having first made sure that the instrument readings are normal and that the car is securely locked by the brakes, and leave the car with the engine running by arming the alarm system. The engine will run for the set time (up to two hours), after which it will automatically stop. When the engine is running, in addition to the integrity of the vehicle's security circuits, including the brake pedal, handbrake, and motion sensor, the engine oil pressure and engine speed will be monitored. If any untoward event occurs, the engine will be immediately stopped before the set time and the owner will receive an engine fault message on the key fob. When the function is running, the system does not control the shock sensor, and the motion sensor is switched to high sensitivity mode.

The function is activated when the ignition is on and the engine is running by pressing and holding the button for 2 seconds. You can turn off the engine in the “Ignition support” mode by holding the button for more than 2 seconds. In this case, the system will remain in security mode, and the key fob will play the “Engine Stopped” melody.

Incorrect installation and configuration of the Pandora DXL 3500 alarm system can cause incorrect operation of the system and complaints about malfunctions.

How to install?

When installing a Pandora 3500 security alarm, you must comply with the following requirements:

  1. The electrical circuits of the security system are designed for direct current with an operating voltage of 12 V. When used in networks with a different voltage, the elements are damaged and the system fails. These cases are not covered by warranty.
  2. It is not recommended to replace the fuses in the harnesses with products of a different rating. It is strictly forbidden to replace fuse links with wire jumpers.
  3. Circuits controlled by built-in or additional relays must be protected by separate fuse links of the appropriate rating.
  4. The power and control wires must not have damage to the top insulating layer.
  5. The installation locations of the components must ensure that the units are protected from the ingress of process fluids or water.
  6. When installing a sensor for measuring the temperature of the power unit, it must be taken into account that heating the sensor to 190-200 ºС leads to fatal damage to the device. When using measurement results, one should take into account the possible error that arises due to the inertia of the measuring element and thermal losses in the sensor. If the user wants to increase the accuracy of the measurement, the sensor and the adjacent part of the wiring should be installed in a thermally insulating cover.
  7. The manufacturer considers the system units to be maintenance-free units. Removing covers is considered as interference in the design of the security system and is the reason for refusal of warranty service.

Placing blocks in the car

Installation procedure:

  1. Check the completeness of the delivery, analyze the instructions and decide on the location of the main signaling components.
  2. Proceed with the installation of the head module, which should be located in the vehicle interior. The unit is installed inside or near the instrument panel. It is allowed to place the unit in the center console. The installation location must ensure that the connecting wiring is shortened, since lengthening the standard harnesses leads to malfunctions of the alarm system.
  3. Secure the module using plastic ties or standard self-tapping screws. The manufacturer allows the unit to be mounted on double-sided adhesive tape. Since the adhesive layer of the tape is subject to aging (especially due to temperature changes), additional fastening with a screed is recommended. Reliable fixation of the module is necessary to ensure the operation of the built-in sensor that responds to impacts, vehicle movement or changes in the angle of inclination.
  4. Attach the transceiver module. A well-chosen location for installing the device allows you to ensure the range of two-way communication declared by the manufacturer. It is recommended to install the device on the top of the windshield, placing the antenna antenna horizontally. The minimum distance between the body and metal parts of the body should not be less than 20 mm. In this case, the gap between the side edges of the antenna antenna and the body should be 200 mm or more.
  5. Route the antenna signal wire under the ceiling and pillar trims. The cable should run at the minimum possible distance from the body, which acts as a protective screen against radio interference. The wire should not have sharp bends or be pressed by plastic sheathing. If the glass is equipped with a standard electric heating system or is coated with metallized films, then the communication distance is reduced several times.
  6. Install a status diode capable of operating in three color modes. According to the manual, the diode should be visible both from the driver's seat and through the glass. The indicator can be placed in plastic interior elements by drilling a mounting hole with a diameter of 5 mm. To install it in the hole, the diode is removed from the factory housing. For additional fixation, the diode can be installed with rubber glue or sealant.
  7. Place the service mode activation button in the planned location. The key is located hidden, but the user must have unhindered access to it, since setting parameters or emergency shutdown of the Pandora 3500 complex is performed by the button and by diode signals.
  8. Install a sensor designed to measure the air temperature in the cabin. The installation point should not be located in an area deprived of air circulation. It is not recommended to install the sensor in places exposed to direct sunlight, as well as near air ducts and deflectors of the microclimate system. If the car is equipped with a climate control system, you can try placing the sensor in the air duct for the standard sensor. In this case, the air used to measure the temperature is supplied by a miniature fan.
  9. Install a power unit temperature sensor in the engine compartment. It is located on the top of the engine or the cylinder head, and is attached with a nut to the standard studs. It is allowed to use the adapter metal plate included in the delivery kit for installation. The plate can be attached to the body; the sensor should be located as close as possible to the engine or metal elements of the cooling system (radiator, thermostat, pump). It is prohibited to install the sensor near the exhaust system, since the device is not designed to operate in high temperature environments.
  10. Install the relay module included in the delivery kit. The device is mounted in the engine compartment using ties, self-tapping screws or double-sided adhesive tape. When using tape, additional fixation of the device with a screw or tie is required, since the adhesive layer quickly ages in the temperature conditions of the engine compartment.
  11. The user can install an iButton contact pad designed to disable the system with a special code key. The contactor is mounted in the driver's seat area on metal (body, additional brackets or frames) or plastic trim elements. The device can also be used in auxiliary immobilizer mode.

The siren is installed in the engine compartment and is positioned with the horn facing down. Fastening is carried out with standard self-tapping screws to metal body surfaces. If you intend to use a stand-alone device, then it is connected directly to the battery. The wires must be equipped with a 3 A fuse insert located in close proximity to the battery terminal.

Installation of connecting wiring

The main alarm module is equipped with a number of connectors located on the front:

  • transceiver module block (X2);
  • plug for the service button harness (X4);
  • connection point for the temperature sensor wiring in the engine compartment (X5);
  • connector for installing the interior temperature sensor wire (X6);
  • block for installing the status diode wire (X7);
  • connection point for an additional sensor (X8);
  • main system connector (X9);
  • block for connecting expansion modules (X10);
  • plug for supplying the wiring harness from the relay module (X11).

Location of connectors on the main unit

On the back of the Pandora DXL 3500 alarm unit there is an X1 connector equipped with a mini-USB plug, used for programming.

Step by step wiring connection:

  1. Connect the power supply to the external siren to the sixth contact in block X9. The contact provides a positive pulse with a voltage of 12 V at the moment the alarm mode is activated. The element base of the contact allows the passage of current with a force of 3 A. If the user plans to use a siren of increased power or use a parallel installation of two sirens, then the connection is made through a relay. Current switching is performed through a contact group.
  2. The Pandora 3500 operating instructions provide three options for connecting the light signaling system. By default, digital CAN bus control is installed, which is available on modern cars. It is also possible to use the hazard warning button or connect directly to the turn signal lamps. If you intend to connect to the emergency gang control button, then you need to use contact 14 from the X10 block, to which the CH6 timer channel is connected. When connecting lamps directly, the switched currents exceed the permissible value, so two additional relay elements must be used.
  3. Connect the main unit to the limit switch circuits located in the body door locks. By default, control is set using the on-board CAN bus. A number of cars do not allow connection according to this scheme due to design limitations. In this case, the limit switches are connected directly to the block; for this, the third contact from the X10 plug is used. When installing a separate interior light control controller on a vehicle or using separate connections for door switches, it is possible to use the output wire of the lighting system to control the alarm system. If the vehicle is equipped with a delay function for switching off the interior lighting, it is necessary to program a delay for arming the limit switches.
  4. Connect the hood and trunk limit switches. When using the CAN bus, control is carried out automatically, no connection is required. In other cases, the limit switches are connected to the analog inputs on the block, which are pin two (for the hood) and pin four (for the trunk). Both contacts are located in the X10 block and provide the ability to select the polarity of the limit switch. For connection, you can use standard terminations (coming from the factory) or use the products supplied in the kit.
  5. Connect engine operation sensors. By default, the settings are set to control via a digital bus; connecting signal wires is not required. If this is not possible, the analog inputs must be used. The ninth contact in the X10 block is intended for connecting the signal wire from the oil pressure sensors or from the battery charge indicator. The polling polarity is programmable, the default value is negative. If the input is not planned to be used, the wire is twisted and insulated. The second input is made through pin 10 in the same block. The signal circuit of the tachometer or generator is used for connection.
  6. Check the operation of the input according to the indication on the key fob display - when the engine is operating, an icon in the form of a working fan impeller should be displayed. The input is equipped with a high-speed controller capable of recognizing the moment the engine starts during automatic starting. If the wire is not connected, then it must be bundled and insulated.
  7. To connect sensors for the neutral or parking position of the gearbox lever or the parking brake limit switch, contact 12, located in block X10, is used. The condition of the sensors is checked before starting the engine remotely. By default, the devices have negative polarity, which can be changed by programming. If there is no connection, the wire is removed and fixed in a wound state.
  8. If necessary, you can connect a brake pedal limit switch, which will allow you to organize another security zone. For this purpose, analog input 11 is used in the block of the main harness X10. When you press the brake pedal, the brake signal limit switch is activated and a positive 12 V voltage pulse is supplied to the system unit, which triggers the alarm mode. The manufacturer does not recommend ignoring this connection.
  9. Ensure the operation of the relay module, which is located near the ignition switch and covered by the steering column trim. When connecting, it should be taken into account that the wires are designed to transmit and switch high currents, so the insertion must ensure reliable operation of the electrical circuit. The module is connected to a separate X11 connector on the main unit. After electrical installation work, the module is securely fixed with electrical tape or plastic ties (through special mounting holes).
  10. Connect the temperature sensor harnesses in accordance with the diagram. If there is a connection error (the X5 and X6 blocks are mixed up), the addressing of the sensors must be changed, after which the devices will display the correct data. After connecting the sensors, their activation is required, which is performed by turning on and off the power to the main unit of the security complex. Addressing switching is carried out without turning off the power.
  11. Connect the connector of the iButton device to read keys. The device operates in parallel with the service button, which allows you to use the key to program the system and perform an emergency disabling of the security mode (if the key fob or tag is lost or damaged).
  12. Configure the system. If the car is equipped with a CAN bus, then you need to configure the security system adapter for correct operation.

System programming

Programming Pandora 3500 is done manually or using a computer.

Manual setting

The manual programming menu has several tabs:

  • general settings (tab I);
  • settings for autostart and related systems that support engine operation without a key in the ignition switch (tab II);
  • setting the operating parameters of timer channels (tab III);
  • operating parameters of the CAN bus adapter (tab IV).

Entering the settings menu is done when the security mode is disabled as follows:

  1. Activate the ignition and enter the first digit of the code by pressing the service button. The correctness of the number entered is confirmed by a red flash of the indicator diode. The factory default value is 1111.
  2. The remaining numbers are entered similarly. Each value must be confirmed by a flash of the diode. After entering the fourth digit, the diode will flash red and green flashes, which indicate the system is ready to configure parameters. If there is an error in reading or entering a code or number, the system gives a long red flash with the diode. Re-entry is possible no earlier than after 5 seconds.
  3. Enter the required settings tab by clicking on the owner call button located on the antenna module.

To start setting up the CAN bus you will need:

  1. Enter the setup mode using the method described above.
  2. Press the owner call button three times. Entering the fourth tab is confirmed by the siren and emergency lights sounding four times.
  3. When entering vehicle parameters, you are required to specify a four-digit identification code. Each vehicle equipped with a CAN bus has its own unique code, which matches the operating mode of the adapter and the bus. The first two digits of the code indicate the manufacturer, the next two indicate the model. To enter the first digit of the manufacturer's code, you need to press the Valet button the number of times corresponding to the digit. Each press causes a short orange flash of the LED. The pause between presses should not exceed 1 second. After entering the first number, the diode will give a single short flash in red.
  4. By analogy, enter the three remaining digits of the code. After this, programming is considered completed, the system will automatically return to the starting state of tab IV. The control diode will blink green, indicating system activity via the digital bus.

The programming status can be monitored using the information available on the key fob screen. The status is indicated by a clock field that indicates the programming level and sublevel value. The system status icon indicates the parameter value - enabled (lock closed) or disabled (lock open).

Computer setup

Setup using a personal computer is faster. To do this, you will need a computer with the Windows XP operating system, as well as a pre-installed proprietary DXL Loader configuration program and a USB-miniUSB patch cord. The advantage of this setup is the ability to work with the main unit installed on or removed from the car. The removed unit is powered via a USB cable.

The third configuration option is the method of making changes through a computer and a radio module that replaces the cord. In this case, programming the removed unit requires power supply.

User manual

Brief list of functions and control methods:

Key fob programming

Before you start using the main key fob, you must turn it on. The manufacturer supplies the remote control with a battery installed inside the battery compartment. The key fob is turned on by pressing button 1 for three seconds. When loading, a melody will be played and the indicators on the display will turn on. Pressing it again turns off the remote control.

The device has two diodes that help in working with the system:

  1. Green Send indicator, responsible for displaying communication in the notification channel. In normal mode, the diode produces single short flashes.
  2. The red Alarm indicator flashes when alerts are received and there is no connection with the vehicle.

Identification of buttons on the main key fob

The use of additional key fobs is possible after programming them:

  1. Turn on the remote control (for a device with a display).
  2. Enter programming mode by entering the secret code (default value is 1111).
  3. After giving the green and red signal, press the service button again. The siren will sound.
  4. Press and hold three buttons on the key fob until a beep sounds on the device with a display and until the indicator turns off on the remote control without a display.
  5. Release the buttons. The system will give one signal, the key fob will give two.
  6. Write down the next keychain. The recording interval is no more than 20 seconds.
  7. Remember to remember old communicators, as they are erased and encryption keys are changed.

When recording Pandora 3500 key fobs, you should pay attention to the compliance of the firmware. There have been cases where it was not possible to register remote controls on an updated 3500i system with firmware 8.55. Rolling back the firmware version to generation 5.54 helped.

Setting up autorun

When using autostart on cars equipped with a manual transmission without a standard neutral position sensor, software installation of neutral is required. The box type is pre-set in the alarm settings. The input available in the main unit connector is used for the parking brake limit switch.

Setting the software neutral

Procedure for enabling software neutral:

  1. After stopping the vehicle, do not turn off the engine. Raise the parking brake lever to the working position, and then press the alarm button for three seconds. After this, the siren should sound, signaling the activation of systems that support engine operation. When you press the brake pedal or lower the lever, the program neutral mode is deactivated. Depending on the connection of the ignition relay, the mode is reactivated by turning the ignition system on and off.
  2. Turn the key in the lock and remove it from the hole. After this, the countdown begins until the engine stops. The user has one minute to leave the salon and turn on the security mode. The engine will then stop for 3 seconds.

It is possible to configure a different method for turning on the software neutral. The technique involves activating the mode automatically when the parking brake lever is lifted while the power unit is running.

Autostart from key fob

To remotely start with a key fob you need:

  1. Press button 1 and hold it for three seconds. Wait for the key fob to send three short signals.
  2. Reception of the command will be confirmed by a sound signal, the shock sensor will turn off and the flashing indicator of the running engine (fan) will be activated.
  3. The starter will rotate the shaft and the engine will start. The fan icon on the key fob will turn on and a sound signal will sound, signaling the start of the power unit. The duration of operation depends on the settings and is limited by time or temperature.
  4. An early stop is performed by pressing and holding button 2 on the remote control. After stopping, the icon will go out and the corresponding melody will sound.
