Solex 21073 for vaz 2107 owner reviews. Installation of the Solex carburetor on a classic. Video: Optimizing Fuel Consumption

10.11.2020

Many are not satisfied with the operation of the Ozone or Weber carburetor, which does not provide good acceleration dynamics, uniform acceleration, low fuel consumption and low toxicity.

Over the course of 30 years of production of "classic" rear-wheel drive VAZs, their design, in contrast to their appearance, has practically not changed. Therefore, car owners are constantly trying to modernize them by introducing new components and assemblies from foreign cars or more modern VAZs. Many, for example, are not satisfied with the operation of the Ozone or Weber carburetor, which does not provide good acceleration dynamics, uniform acceleration, low fuel consumption and low toxicity levels. At the same time, all this is within the power of their "younger brother" "Solex". That is why many replace their native carburetor with a licensed "Frenchman".

The Dimitrovgrad Automobile Aggregate Plant (DAAZ) under the license of the French company Solex produces about a dozen modifications of Solex carburetors for engines with different displacement volumes. This carburetor model was originally created for front-wheel drive VAZ models, since "Weber" and "Ozone" installed on an engine located transversely in the engine compartment, in certain driving modes (with sharp accelerations, in turns, on steep climbs) overestimated the fuel-air mixture ... This is due to unwanted movements of the float in the float chamber. "Solexes" are devoid of this drawback, since their float chamber is two-section, i.e. with paired floats that move in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the car (and not parallel, as in "Ozone" and "Weber").

Solexes are divided into 4 modifications:

  • octal (2181, 2108, 2183)

  • 21051 for a classic 1.3l engine - a rarity

  • 21053 for a classic 1.5L engine - can still be found, but not often

  • 21073 for 1.7L (Niva)
The modifications differ from each other in the cross-sections of the diffusers. (21/23, 23/23, 23/24, 24/24, respectively) In addition, the "chisel" Solex have different cam profiles for the drive of the accelerating pump and the starting device. Inside the modifications, they differ only in the size of the jets.

Landing dimensions and drives are the same for all, just for "chisel" carburetors the "normal" drive is closed with a plastic blotch for fastening the shutter drive cable.

To install ANY of the listed carbs on a classic, you need:

  • thick (10-15mm) plastic spacer - heat insulating. I saw them in two thicknesses - about 8mm and 15mm. From the point of view of thermal insulation, the second is better (checked), but with it, not on every classic, the hood can be closed;

  • paronite on the inlet pipeline; · Cardboard under the carb itself;

  • a piece of thin hose for antifreeze 80cm + 2 clamps;

  • plugs for unused nozzles. In the worst case (21073) there are 3. I made them from pieces of the vacuum supply hose to the distributor;

  • set of rods and adapters for gas drive. Sold in some stores;

  • check valve;

  • tee;

  • suction chisel cable (ours is short).
To get the most out of replacing this main element of the power system, it makes sense to upgrade the ignition system by installing a contactless one. Solex carburetors are initially set to create a lean mixture. For its effective ignition on the spark plug, a more powerful spark discharge must be created. This can be ensured only by a contactless ignition system, the coil of which generates a voltage of up to 25,000 V, and the interelectrode gap at the spark plugs is 0.7-0.8 mm. Let me remind you that in a contact-transistor ignition system, the above characteristics are 17,000 V and 0.5-0.6 mm, respectively. The clearance in the contact system can be increased, but this will cause accelerated failure of the bearing of the moving plate of the breaker, its contacts and the capacitor.

The installation itself does not cause problems. All this must be done ON a COOLED car. He took off Ozone and the old gasket, put a paronite gasket, on it a thick plastic one, on top of a cardboard one, on this sandwich and put Solex. Do not fasten with nuts at first

A bracket from a set of rods and adapters is placed under the nuts closest to the engine, on which a two-arm lever is placed, which can be removed from the bracket on the block head cover.

The short pull from the pedal is replaced with a long one. If necessary, it will have to be adjusted in length. Each one fixes the return spring, as fantasy allows. The only way to do this is closer to the pedal.

The suction cable is replaced with a chisel cable.

To connect the heating of the throttle valves, remove the antifreeze hose from the intake manifold and put it (with a clamp) on the heating pipe of the carb, put the stock hose on the other end of the pipe and again on the intake manifold. If the heating is not connected, then in cool, damp weather, due to throttling, frost may freeze on the edge of the damper and, as a result, unstable operation at XX.

The selection of the vacuum for the distributor is taken from the lower fitting on the right (along the course of the car). Crankcase ventilation is connected to the fitting at the bottom of the carb, directed towards the cab (the lowest)

Before installation, I recommend setting (checking) the fuel level in the float chamber. To do this, unscrew the 5 screws of the carb cover, remove it, turn it over, collect the loose screws that secure the cover (if you find it) from the ground and check the gap to the gasket from the bottom point of the floats. He is in accordance with the manual d.b. 1mm. At the same time, I recommend checking the tightness of the needle valve (at least with your mouth). Replace the cover.

I do not recommend using plastic tees from glass washers - plastic is cracking, and there is not water, but gasoline: We insert the tee into the gap of the gas hose to the gas pump, the hose with the valve is put on the corresponding carb connection - then on the valve of the hose going to the tee.

But it is better, of course, to lug into the tank!

Now on impressions and fine-tuning.

At first I set myself 21073. It seems that the secondary chamber does not open at all until you reach a speed of 120 - there is no need. Fuel consumption increased slightly (0.5 - 1l / 100km). But there are practically no failures in comparison with Ozone and an excellent start appeared. After the selection of the jets, it was possible to slightly reduce the consumption (not dramatically). At the same time, light (but not the same as Ozone's) failures appeared.

Now I have 21083. Kulachek accelerate. pump from 21073. I still believe that this is the optimum for a 1.5 liter engine. Excellent dynamics, but the consumption is too large (less, of course, than at 21073, but still :) - we will impoverish.

A common advantage for all Solexes is a more stable XX than Ozones.

All Solexes "love" increased CO (0.7 and more). Less is possible (it will not stall), but shaking, etc.

The disadvantage is overheating in traffic jams in summer. To reduce this, I disconnect (unscrew) the throttle valve heating pipe for the summer.

The standard carburetor is fully functional and adjusted, and the vehicle dynamics is poor. The simplest way to fix this is to install a DAAZ 21073 carburetor. Installation without changes is possible, but the first chamber prepares a lean mixture as standard. Because of this, when the first chamber is operating (when the throttle valve of the second chamber is closed), the engine does not provide sufficient thrust for intensive acceleration. The car will accelerate sluggishly on the first chamber and sharply increase the acceleration rate when the second chamber is opened. The latter can create some difficulties in traction control on surfaces with low grip. The fact is that the car literally jumps forward when the second camera is opened. True, the coin has another side - fuel efficiency. This is the main feature of the 21073 carburetor.

To fully realize the advantages of the increased diameter of the main diffuser of the first chamber, an increase in the throughput of the main fuel nozzle (hereinafter GTZ) of the first chamber will help. The first option is a compromise between efficiency and traction capabilities, replacing GTZh from 107.5 to 110. The intensity of acceleration in the first chamber will increase, but not significantly. The most optimal for the first chamber is GTZh 115. Installation of GTZh 117.5 is also possible, but the fuel consumption will increase slightly. It should be noted that the installation of GTZh with a throughput of more than 117.5 leads to excessive enrichment of the mixture and, as a consequence, increased fuel consumption and (in most cases) deterioration of acceleration dynamics.

Compensation jets (hereinafter referred to as KJ), which are also air jets, affect the composition of the mixture with an increase in the vacuum in the main diffusers of the carburetor, which occurs when the engine speed rises. Up to medium speed (~ 2500 rpm) they have an insignificant effect on the mixture composition, but with an increase in the speed, their influence on the mixture composition increases. The arithmetic is simple, the lower the throughput of the CL, the more the mixture is enriched with an increase in engine speed. Therefore, when using GTZh with a throughput of 107.5 and 110, it is advisable to enrich the mixture a little with the help of CL with a small throughput: 145, 150, 155. When using GTZh 115, you can use both 155 and 165 CL. 117.5 it is better to put KZh 165.

All of the above referred to the jets of the first chamber of the DAAZ 21073 carburetor. The second chamber is a little easier. You can leave everything as it is (GTZh 115, KZh 135), or you can put GTZh 120. The latter will slightly affect fuel consumption, but will improve the acceleration dynamics of the car. It should also be noted that it is undesirable to put the maximum GTZ in both chambers. The best effect can be achieved with the maximum allowable enrichment of only one carburetor chamber. For example, with a moderate GTZ in the first chamber (107.5 or 110), it makes sense to enrich the second chamber with the GTZh 120 installation. With this ratio, the first chamber will be moderately economical with acceptable acceleration dynamics, and the second chamber will compensate for the lean mixture when both throttle valves are fully open ...

There are a number of other features associated with the operation of Solex carburetors. We will try to describe some of them below.

The engine does not maintain a stable idle speed. Or it is not possible to establish the normal speed of XX (800-1400 rpm, depending on the camshaft), which is important if a camshaft with wide valve timing is installed.

  • The composition of the idle mixture is too lean. The mixture quality screw is tightened more than necessary. It is solved by adjusting CO within 2%.

  • There is air leakage after the throttle valve. It is necessary to check the carburetor mating plane, the tightness of the vacuum booster pipe and its seals, the tightness of the intake manifold and the gasket between it and the cylinder head.
Engine stalls after “throttle release”.

  • If both of the previous points are fulfilled, then it is necessary to replace the XX jet with a jet with a higher flow capacity. And also check the operation of the EPHH control unit.

A classic of Togliatti production, it has been modernized countless times by the hands of its own car owners. In addition to various improvements in the interior and additional protection of the body, experiments were carried out on the power plant.

Among the top priority areas of tuning is the desire to reduce fuel consumption and add dynamic performance to the car. This can be achieved by replacing the ICE power supply unit. A front-wheel drive family turned up as a donor. We offer a brief instruction on how to put a carburetor from a VAZ 2108 on a VAZ 2107 with your own hands.

While the power unit is not screwed on, it is necessary to install the bracket for the rocker from 2108 from the repair kit on two pins (closest to the engine). Then you can tighten the mount of four nuts. Remove the double-crank throttle lever from the valve cover. Change the short stem from the gas pedal to a long one. We install the converted two-crank arm (slide) on the bracket, adjusting the structure to size. The final stage in working with the mechanism is the installation of the return spring on the lever. Check the operation of the drive and adjust if necessary.

The procedure for removing the carburetor from the VAZ 2108

The procedure for removing and installing a carburetor from a VAZ 2107 is described on our website.

Fuel hoses and check valve

Fuel hoses must be connected to the installed power unit. The design feature of Solex-21083 is that it has a "return". Some people prefer to drown it out.

However, installing a check valve and a tee on the gas hose will be a better solution:

  • it won't take long, only 5-10 minutes;
  • the system contributes to fuel economy.

We cut the tee in front of the fuel filter. Then, to the tee, we attach a hose with a check valve coming from the carburetor. We attach the gas hose connections to the clamps.

Solenoid valve connection

After a foreign carburetor from the VAZ 2109 model has been installed on the VAZ 2107, it is necessary to ensure that it works correctly. It is necessary to make the solenoid valve work from the ignition lock. You can turn off the EPHH and remove the needle, but then the machine will twitch when the engine is turned off.

Required details for the operation:

  • bSZ switch connector assembled (with wires);
  • electrical connector with a chip for 4 contacts (assembled);
  • ePHH control unit;
  • a pair of single-pin connectors assembled.

It is necessary to solder the 4k and 1k plug wires to the switch wires (using the pinout method). A detailed diagram is shown in the photo.

After the performed operation, you should install the modified block on the car.

Heating

The newly installed internal combustion engine power supply unit must be heated to the throttle valve. To do this, disconnect the coolant hose from the intake manifold and connect it to the carburetor heating pipe. Secure all connections with clamps. Make a separate hose for the manifold. Thanks to the heating of the carburetor, frost will not freeze on the dampers in cold weather, leading to unstable engine operation.

Setting up the carburetor from the figure eight on the VAZ 2107

After Solex-21083 is finally installed and engineering work is completed, it is necessary to adjust the carburetor. The adjustment takes place on a warm engine. You will need a slotted screwdriver.

The setup sequence is as follows:

After that, you can make a small test drive on the modernized "seven". Then unscrew the candles and check the carbon deposits on the electrodes. If it is black, then reduce the fuel quality by ½ turn. If white, then add on the contrary.

Conclusion

According to the reviews of car owners who have performed the operation to replace the ICE power supply unit, the car behaves in a completely different way, much better. The dynamics of the car increases, and fuel consumption is reduced by 1-2 liters. The modernization method is not simple, since it will not work to put a carburetor from a VAZ 2108 on a VAZ 2107, without certain knowledge. However, if you have the skills to repair and a garage with a tool, most motorists can do it with their own hands.

The power systems of modern cars are becoming more and more complex every year, but a simple, affordable and reliable carburetor will serve the owners of old cars for a long time. Now carburetor cars have not been produced for a long time. But this does not eliminate the need to maintain such machines. For example, the Solex carburetor 21073 produced by the Dimitrovsky Automotive Aggregate Plant is still being manufactured and successfully operated in power systems for engines of classic VAZ models, as well as front-wheel drive VAZ 2108, 2109. It can also be found on early models of the “tenth family”.

Despite its simplicity, this element is in demand and popular among motorists. Solex 21073 was installed not only on the Niva. The reviews about it are positive, which means that you need to learn more about it and learn how to customize it.

Solex carburetor: modifications

The basic design of these devices was developed by the engineers of the French company Soleks.

At the Dimitrovgrad plant, they later received a production license, and all other modifications were made by specialists here. The popular Solex 21073 was developed at DAAZ. Reviews about him are only positive. The mechanism is easy to configure and highly reliable. DAAZ-2108 is designed to work with a 1.3-liter engine for and 2109. "Solex" 21083 was modified for 1.5-liter power units. The same mechanisms were equipped with models from the first batches of VAZ 2110 with a microprocessor-based ignition system. The classic VAZ models were equipped with Solex 21053-1107010. The VAZ Niva models were equipped with the Solex 21073-1107010 mechanism. Now it has been replaced by an injector.

Device

Carburetor "Solex" 21073 belongs to the type of emulsion. Its modifications were originally installed on motors with the device is distinguished by the presence of two chambers equipped with throttle valves, as well as dosing systems. The device also has adapter systems for the first and second cameras. There is an idle system, but only for the first chamber.

The mechanism is in two halves. The lower one is more massive - and the upper one. This half is the body of the device itself, and the upper part is the cover for the carburetor. At the bottom of each of the chambers there are rotary-type dampers with a mechanical drive. At the top in the first chamber of the carburetor there is a damper for air supply. It is necessary to start the still unheated power unit. This part is activated by a cable that goes into the passenger compartment and is connected to the lever responsible for the suction and to the starting

Operating principle

Solex 21073 works as follows. Gasoline enters the float chamber using the inlet fitting - the fuel also passes through the filter mesh, where it is cleaned, and goes through the needle valve. The chamber with the float is two-section, and the sections are interconnected. They will have the same amount of gasoline. This design can significantly reduce the effect of body tilts on the fuel level in a given chamber.

This ensures more stable engine operation. As the chamber fills, the float, pressing part of the needle valve, blocks the access of fuel to the chamber. This maintains a constant level of gasoline in the mechanism. Further, from the float chamber, gasoline through the nozzles enters the mixing wells. Air enters these wells through special holes in emulsion tubes or air jets. Further, gasoline and air are mixed in them. The result is a fuel mixture. It will fall into small as well as large diffusers of the device. This is the main dosing chamber. Depending on the operating mode of the engine, certain mechanisms and systems can be started in the carburetor. When the owner tries to start the engine "cold" in order to enrich the fuel mixture, the starting device comes into play. Its driver starts from the passenger compartment - this is a suction.

When the handle is extended to its maximum, the air damper of the first chamber is completely closed. At the same time, the first chamber opens to the distance of the starting gap. It is adjusted using the adjusting screw on the Solex carburetor. Adjusting the gap will allow you to adjust the idle speed.

Starting system

This mechanism is a special cavity that connects to the intake manifold. The device also has a diaphragm and a stem that is connected to the air damper. After the engine is started, a vacuum is generated in the intake manifold. It acts on the diaphragm rod, thereby opening the air damper. Returning the choke handle to its normal position will reduce the starting clearances.

Clearance parameters depend on the geometric characteristics of the lever and are not adjustable in any way. As for the throttle valve of the second chamber, when the choke is extended, it is in a locked state.

Idling system

This unit is necessary in order to supply the combustion chambers with a combustible mixture at the lowest speed. Thanks to this system, the power unit will not stall when there is no load. The fuel enters the system through the main jet into the first chamber. Through the XX nozzle, where it is then mixed with oxygen, the fuel enters the system through the air valve. This mechanism allows to ensure stable operation of the engine at idle without load.

Further, the combustible mixture enters the first chamber through a special channel located under the throttle valve. The fuel mechanism leading to the XX outlet is closed with a quality screw. This is an adjusting screw with which you can adjust and change the characteristics of the carburetor. The operation of the motor in idle mode on the Solex 21073 mechanism is also adjusted with this element. Due to it, the value of the gap of the throttle valve of the first chamber in the XX mode is determined.

Other carburetor assemblies

Also, the mechanism has an accelerator pump and an economizer. These assemblies are designed for the fuel mixture of the engine when it is operating under loaded conditions.

Level adjustment in the float chamber

So, we examined the Solex device. Adjusting the carburetor will help you to set the optimal mode when the engine will work as efficiently as possible and the fuel consumption will not be too high. First you need to start and warm up the engine a little. Then dismantle the fuel hose and carburetor cover. Then disconnect the suction cable and twist the cover from the device.

It must be removed as smoothly and accurately as possible so as not to damage the float. Then the distance in each of the chambers is measured with a ruler or vernier caliper. You need to measure from the mating surfaces to the edge of the gasoline. This dimension should be about 24 mm. If it is more or less, then the parameter is adjusted by bending the float. Then the device is reassembled, the engine is started and warmed up.

Idle setting

Many car owners, namely beginners, most often buy old cars and do not know how to set up the carburetor correctly. The result is power loss, floating revs and other problems. After the level adjustment is successfully completed, adjust the idle speed. It is recommended to turn off the engine before doing this. To work, you need a flat-blade screwdriver and time. There is a hole in the sole of the mechanism. There is a screw in it, which is responsible for the quality of the mixture. It is screwed in until it stops. However, don't be too zealous.

Then, from the most extreme position, the screw is unscrewed by five turns. Then the engine is started without suction. Unscrew the quality screw - the 21073 carburetor will regulate the engine speed. Then the element is screwed in again. It is necessary to rotate until the operation of the power unit becomes as stable as possible. Rotate the screw slowly. When the operation of the motor becomes calmer, it is unscrewed by no more than one revolution. As a result, idle speed will be about 900. But if the engine stalls, they increase slightly.

Conclusion

These are the most important rules on how to tune the Solex carburetor (it goes to the Niva or to the seven, it doesn't matter). The setting allows you to improve the operation of the engine, stabilize idle speed. The good thing about this carburetor is that it can be adjusted with a minimum set of tools in any conditions. But time goes on, and cars with this type of power system are becoming less and less.

In the presence of 21047, dviglo 03 1500. There is a carb 2107-1107010. There is Solex 21073 with all pribluda for installation. Is it worth starting this exchange (s)? ...
Fair wind !!!

Personally, I think there is no particular reason to do this, especially since OZONE is less capricious. If you do this, then at the same time put a contactless ignition I think so :))

Re: Should I put Solex 21073 on the classics?
BSZ is worth it. But as for the capriciousness of carbs, I heard that ozone is more sensitive to blockages. After all, the diameter of the nozzles is much larger in 73, plus the mechanics on the 2nd chamber. So ... I think the game may be worth the candle. Maybe?
Fair wind !!!

In my opinion, it is more prone to blockages ...
all the same SOLEX. But with SOLEX it accelerates better and eats less. But 21073 seems to me too big for 1500. Better 21083.

Agree with Leonid
What do you want to get?
Dynamics? So more gasoline just needs to be fed into the chambers, therefore, the consumption will increase.
Is it worth the candle for yourself now think
IMHO - there is almost no difference ...
Good luck,
Andrew

Gifts! So Ozone seems to have more jets ...
In general, if you have everything, then put it on. I would definitely try. Only ... really, 21073 is too big, probably for 1.5 ... But you don't need anything, right, put everything back, huh? With your enthusiasm, interest and love for your car :)

Darova demon))) where disappeared, that there is no ICQ ...
Yes, the fact of the matter is that it stays on exactly the same engine. the ezdun said that the consumption is not too much ... then I read that the heating is not very good
that is essential ... the main thing is the dynamics .... ready to sacrifice anything to her .. do not disappear, come on .. even get out into ICQ .....
Fair wind !!!

I don’t have ICQ as such ... Through the site ... (-)

I have this one,
though modified in one tuning company.
Acceleration has improved significantly.
With the naked eye, it can be seen that the elasticity has increased.
At the "top", however, everything remained at the same level.
City consumption does not exceed 10 l / 100 km.
There were no troubles (yet).
I already ran 25 Kkm on it, changed the PTO twice, and that's it.
I never even twisted the idle ones.
I don’t regret the money spent.

Re: Should I put Solex 21073 on the classics?
I also have this one worth 2106-1600, overclocking is better, the consumption is the same.
Subjectively, the engine has become "easier" to breathe.

I've had it for two years. Some positive emotions.
Good luck. Albert. Vaz-2106 with 2109 carb and BSZ + EPHH

Any car pleases its owner as long as no troubles begin to happen to it. Naturally, every driver is upset by such circumstances. If the car is not new, then the repair costs may be too large, and it is very difficult to resolve the issue on your own. However, true connoisseurs of VAZ are trying to study their iron horse "from" and "to" and. This primarily concerns the repair of important components, many are interested in installing a Solex 21083 carburetor on a VAZ-2107.

The most popular carburetor for the VAZ-2107 is Solex

Since the publication of VAZ cars with carburetor engines, parts of the following manufacturers have been installed on them: Ozone, Solex, Weber. But they were and continue to be the most popular. Consider the adjustment and tuning of the carburetor of this brand in a little more detail.

What can be useful for work

If suddenly the car owner began to notice some changes in the engine's operation, for example, it stopped starting when hot or there was an instability of the idle speed, it is necessary to correctly adjust the VAZ carburetor, as well as correctly adjust the idle speed of the car.

All adjustments are made in order to achieve stable operation of the power unit at idle speed with a minimum crankshaft speed.

You may need a tachometer to determine your engine speed. Some vehicles have a built-in instrument cluster, among which there is a dedicated connection for this instrument. In such a situation, it is advisable to use it. Otherwise, use a separate device (multimeter or autotester operating in tachometer mode). However, to take more accurate indicators, it is best to connect an independent unit. This will be much more convenient in terms of operation, in addition, all adjustments will be made more accurately and efficiently.

Experienced car mechanics who have eaten more than one dog in this business can make adjustments by ear. To rotate the quality screw and the quantity screw, other craftsmen who do not have much knowledge may need a slotted screwdriver with a blade width of no more than 3 millimeters.

Preparatory activities

If a motorist is interested in adjusting the Solex carburetor with his own hands, he must first perform a number of preparatory steps.

Initially, you need to warm up the power unit to a working condition (temperature 85-90 degrees).

At the next step, you need to squeeze the handle of the air damper drive mechanism to the stop, popularly called it simply - "suction". After that, the damper should be in a position in which the air channel is completely free, i.e. located in the direction of air movement.

If there is a tachometer, the device must be connected to a damped engine. Otherwise, in the absence of the unit, the item should be skipped. The plus side of the device must go to the ignition coil, and the minus side to the vehicle "mass" (body, motor or battery minus). Before, you should read the instruction manual.

The last action should be to start the engine, turn on the high beam optics and heating device.

Idle speed adjustment

Do-it-yourself tuning of the Solex carburetor on the VAZ-2107 requires certain knowledge from the repairing motorist. The manufacturer recommends setting idle speed in power units with carburetors 2108, 21081, 21083 from Solex, which vary between 750-800 per minute. It is very important to achieve stable functioning of the system in such a gap. To do this, it is necessary to rotate the screw "amount" of the fuel solution, while simultaneously setting the crankshaft rotation speed.

Setting the required speed often necessitates an urgent adjustment of the "quality" screw adjustment. In cars in which such measures are performed for the first time, the above screw must have a plastic plug installed at the factory - it is advisable to remove it. An awl or metal hook can be useful for this. In the absence of both tools, a self-tapping screw can be screwed into an unnecessary part, and then everything can be removed.

In order for the adjustment or installation of the Solex 21083 carburetor on the VAZ-2107 to be successful, the manipulation should be carried out in three steps. If this is not enough, the steps can be repeated several more times. Before solving such an important task, you need to check the correct installation of the ignition timing, as well as the functionality of the high-voltage wires. If everything works stably and does not cause complaints from the owner, you must:

  • using a slotted screwdriver, turn the screw, which is responsible for the "quality" of the fuel mixture, in order to increase the engine speed to the maximum limit. It is necessary to turn the unit in different directions until the “correct” position of the screw is determined when the maximum frequency is reached. You can adjust by ear or by tachometer;
  • put the screw of the "quantity" of the fuel "solution" in such a position that the revolutions reach 900 per minute. Scrolling the screw directly affects the opening of the throttle valve of the first chamber, because of which the revs begin to "jump" strongly. Otherwise, if the screw is turned counterclockwise, the throttle valve will close and the rpm will drop. The main task of the adjusting screw is to determine its optimal location;
  • turn on the "quality tap", having achieved 800 rpm from the system.

If the motorist does not know how to put the Solex carburetor on the VAZ-2107, after the previous device has outlived itself or the replacement of the "quality" screw is required, one important feature should be taken into account: before adjusting the device, the screw must be tightened clockwise until it stops, and then unscrewed 3 turns and only then proceed with the adjustment.

Important points of adjustment

After the structure finds its optimal position, it is necessary to press the gas pedal: the motorist must check the functionality of the motor, which will “raise” the crankshaft speed without interruption. At the same time, there should be no sharp damping of the engine after the pedal is released. If there are negative points, you will have to re-adjust the carburetor.

The CO content in the exhaust gases of the power unit must also be checked, according to the rules, after such manipulations it should decrease. With ideal performance of all components, the CO should fluctuate within 1.5%.

When the screws do not help to normalize the speed, the car owner will have to additionally check the power unit, since such moments indicate that the fuel "goes" into the mixing chamber, bypassing the idle system. In this case, pay attention to the carburetor solenoid valve to close it. Along with this, the diameter of the orifice of the nozzle should be measured, which is sometimes larger than required.

Conclusion

The above recommendations will help the car owner of a domestic vehicle independently adjust or tune the Solex carburetor.
