Do-it-yourself rear tinting. How to glue tinting correctly: a master class and expert advice. Flat and curved glass tinting

29.10.2020

How to tint a car? This is a question that deserves special attention. Appearance vehicle with good design and amazing tuning - that's what attracts the eyes of everyone around. Toning refers to the elements of tuning. It is worth considering in more detail the question of how to tint a car, because thanks to tinting, the car will acquire charm, shine and presentability.

The tint film, among other things, prevents many unpleasant effects on the car. Among them, burnout of the skin, instrument panel, acoustics and audio equipment. In addition, tinting will create a barrier that will prevent the sun from blinding the driver.

When tinted with a film, car windows are not dismantled. Maybe only the door panels are removed - and then very rarely. In addition, this is a very fast process: a car can be fully tinted in three hours. This does not scratch the glass. Another plus that a tint film for cars has is that it can be removed at any time, and the windows will remain intact. It is also heat-resistant: it is not afraid of overheating or frost. It does not reflect, does not demetallize, does not flake or bubble. Plus she don't miss

How to tint a car with your own hands? Not as difficult as it might seem. To do this, you will need an eraser spatula, shampoo, a knife, a blade, a ruler and a film.

How to properly tint a car? First you need to wash it thoroughly, washing off all the fat from the glasses. If you do not do it efficiently, then hairs, dust particles will clog under the film, and this is fraught with a bad result. Then you need to measure the glass (an allowance of five centimeters on each side is taken into account), and you can proceed to the film, or rather, to cut it. You need to find the transparent side of the film. Then you should take the film and sprinkle it with plenty of water, in which there is a sufficient amount of shampoo. The film must be damp, and even wet. Then it is divided to the end (it is necessary to ensure that its sides do not stick together), and the transparent part is thrown away. The adhesive side of the film is applied to the car glass. Then you need a rubber eraser, which from the center will need to drive water to the edges. The film must be held so that it does not slip off. Attention! You need to remove ALL the water. Then, after an hour, you can cut the film. But by no means exactly along the edge - for this you need to wait about 8 hours. You can dry the film with a hair dryer to improve the result.

How to tint a car, or rather, its rear window? The film is attached to it in a different way. You need to first carefully examine it, then wash it thoroughly. Fastening starts from the top. The washing liquid should be spread over the top of the already washed glass. Then 1/3 of the film is separated and the liquid is abundantly sprayed onto its surface. The same operation will need to be repeated with the remaining 2/3 of the film. As already mentioned, it will be necessary to wait a few hours, after which it will be possible to correct. And finally, the last 2-3 days you do not need to open the windows to avoid possible deformation (this is if the film is not of the highest quality).

Every car owner wants his car to look solid and be as comfortable as possible. One of the types of tuning that is resorted to in this case is window tinting. In this article, we will learn about the main aspects of such an upgrade.

Pros and cons of window tinting

Consider the main advantages of tuning:

  • in the heat, the interior is less susceptible to heat;
  • upholstery does not fade;
  • do not overheat and do not lose appearance interior plastic products;
  • presentability of the car externally;
  • both passengers and things left in a closed car are hidden from prying eyes;
  • the driver's eyes suffer less from the blinding rays of the sun or oncoming headlights, the light of a car coming from behind;
  • in the event of a collision, the glass will not crumble, but will remain on the tint.

Flaws:

  • visibility is reduced, especially at night, which makes parking difficult and can create an emergency;
  • in a stream of a large amount of transport, the mirror ability of the film will blind other drivers;
  • too high a density of tinting layers can cause damage to power windows;
  • non-compliance with GOSTs is the reason for fines.

Did you know? In China, a tint film with the image of some famous character (singer, actor) is popular.

The choice of film for tinting

Today on the market there is big choice. To figure out which film to give preference to, consider it according to several criteria.

In terms of cost and quality:

  1. The leaders in the production of this material are the American companies LLumar, 3M, SunTek, SolarGard. The quality is undeniable, which affects the price.
  2. The 3M company (USA) offers a budget version of the product, the line includes such films as Black Shade, Metallic Shade. The quality is not inferior, but the price is several times lower.
  3. The Chinese manufacturer offers the cheapest products, but they quickly fade and lose their gloss.

By purpose:

  1. Sun protection(ultraviolet and infrared radiation).
  2. impact resistant(consists of more layers).
  3. decorative(emphasizes the individuality of the owner of the car).
Manufacturing method:
  1. Non-metallized- polymer, acrylic and colored layer. Affordable, does not create problems in the operation of mobile and navigation systems, there is no mirror effect. Doesn't last long.
  2. metallized- in addition to the main layers, contains metallized. It has a mirroring effect, lasts longer and effectively protects against ultraviolet radiation. May interfere with mobile communications and navigation systems.
In addition to the above criteria, it is important to consider the ability of the film to transmit light.

Light transmission options:

  • 5 % - interior is not visible from the outside;
  • 10 % - noticeable outlines of people in the cabin;
  • 15 % - clearly visible silhouettes;
  • 20 % - faces can be seen from the outside;
  • 35 % - looking closely you can see the entire interior;
  • 50 % - even small details inside the car are visible.

After considering all the criteria and determining the function of tinting, it will not be difficult to make the final choice.

Did you know? According to world statistics on road accidents, tinted cars are less likely to be involved in them. This is explained by the fact that drivers are not distracted by studying those sitting in neighboring or oncoming vehicles, but are entirely focused on the road.

Do-it-yourself car window tinting

Car tinting at home is not difficult. In this case, the main thing is accuracy and compliance with the rules of work.

Materials and tools

Materials and tools required for work:

  • film;
  • sponge;
  • clerical knife with a wide blade;
  • spray;
  • water and detergent;
  • spatula made of plastic;
  • sharp knife for cutting material;

Preparatory stage

Prepare the work surface:

Important! Before work, you should clean the glass as thoroughly as possible, since any mote can create a bubble.

Tinting process

We proceed directly to gluing:

  1. Wash the work surface with a spray bottle and go over it with a spatula. Wash again.
  2. Next, with moistened fingers, use a knife to separate the protective layer on the pattern.
  3. Prying off the edge with a knife, then moisten the film from the spray gun and gently pull off the “protection”. Avoid touching the adhesive side of the material.
  4. After separating the unnecessary layer, moisten the working and glass surface abundantly.
  5. Take the film by the edges and attach it to the glass, moisten.
  6. Extremely carefully spread the material left and right, paying particular attention to the edges.
  7. Check how the tinting looks from the outside. If there are no bubbles, dry everything with a hair dryer. The work is done.
  1. Experts recommend using Johnson's baby shampoo: this tool provides the easiest possible sliding of the film.
  2. Try to cut the edge with one movement of the hand, without tearing off the knife. This will give the most accurate result, without torn edges.
  3. Wet the glass regularly - the material and the surface must be in close contact.
  4. A film made in the USA is considered to be of better quality and easier to work with. The Chinese film is very thin and there is a very high probability of scratching or breaking it. The American material is denser, comes off easily and is easy to tuck into the edges. In addition, it is more elastic.
  5. For beginners, it is better to remove the eyelash before work to avoid creases.
  6. Please note that fully closed glass goes into the seal a little, so the glass on top needs to be lowered.
  7. Smooth the film in the direction to the sides, in no case up and down.
  8. Make sure that all air and all liquid are removed.
  9. If the film has moved a little, you can correct it by pulling it in the right direction while it is still damp.
  10. Always leave a margin on the edges, do not overdo it so that wrinkles do not appear later.
  11. When working with a spatula, you need to be extremely careful and not press it into the material so as not to scratch it.
You can see the tinting process in more detail in the following video: So, the process of tinting a car can be carried out at home, while saving on paying at a car dealership. This procedure is simple and requires only care, accuracy and accurate calculations. However, before traveling abroad in your car, you must carefully study the rules and laws adopted regarding tinting.

Do-it-yourself car window tinting is a great opportunity to improve the appearance of the car and protect the driver and passengers, both from prying eyes and from the bright sun. To perform this operation, it is not at all necessary to contact specialists, this issue can be solved on your own at home, which will help save money and gain new skills and knowledge. It is important to thoroughly prepare and do the job carefully.

Preparation for work

First, you need to check the integrity of the glass, because the film will take well and will look only on undamaged windows. Secondly, it is worth deciding on the color of the tint film, it is best to take a shade that repeats the color - then you definitely won’t go wrong.

VAZ 2109

Next, you need to choose the light transmission of the tint. It is important to choose a film with a color transmission rate of no more than 70 percent in order to comply with the requirements of existing legislation. The main thing is not to save, because cheap film will stick much worse, move away in the corners, and will last much less than their more expensive counterparts. Samples are a good example of high-quality film, for example, for VAZ cars, 20 percent film will be very convenient.

In the end, it is important to remember that, as for any car, tuning a VAZ 2109 car is quite a feasible job.

Necessary tools and materials

  1. Tint film, for VAZ 2109 - at least 3 m.
  2. Baby shampoo or any quality detergent, at least 100 ml.
  3. Rubber scraper.
  4. A sharp knife or blade.
  5. Sprayer in the amount of 2 pieces (needed in order to dilute the shampoo).
  6. Warm water.
  7. Dry wipes or a lint-free cloth.
  8. Special hair dryer
  9. Metal meter ruler.
  10. Assistant.

LLumar film

To complete the task faster, the assistant will provide significant savings in time and resources, as well as significantly increase productivity. Get it all ready before you get started and your successfully toned car is almost done.

Stages of work

To begin with, we note the ideal conditions necessary for high-quality work, namely:

  1. Closed, dry and warm room with a minimum amount of dust in the air;
  2. Full set of tools;
  3. clean windows;
  4. Toning experience.

First stage

Do-it-yourself car window tinting is, first of all, giving the car a pleasant appearance. And you need to start this process by removing the glasses and washing them on both sides in a special shower, but if this is not possible, then you can stop by driving out of town or a place that is located far enough from the road in wet weather ( glass removal is written in the machine manual).

Thus, the car will be protected from city dust. In extreme cases, window washing can be done at home in the shower, under running water. hot water. All stains, dirt, etc. will need to be washed off with a soapy solution of shampoo or other means, and after washing, all glass will need to be wiped dry with rags prepared in advance. It is important to completely clean the surfaces, because any foreign particles form a swelling of the tint film.

First stage

The easiest way to stick the film is from the side windows, so it's best to start with this to get used to it. The presence of a partner will be very helpful. At this stage, you should measure the dimensions of the side window and make a template with an allowance of 5 centimeters on all sides. Next, you need to cut out suitable shapes from the tint film with a knife and a meter long metal ruler. The main thing: you need to put the film on a hard, clean surface with the transparent side and cut it. First you need to make templates for the vents. Alternatively, you can apply the film to the glass and, after carefully smoothing it, circle the glass around the perimeter.

Second phase

After that, it is necessary to prepare a special solution that is needed to fix the tinting: it consists of water and a small amount of detergent.
After the patterns of the side windows, it is worth moving on to the windshields, and the rear windows of the car are the most difficult to perform. Everything must be done clearly and accurately so that there are no problems in the future.

Third stage

And now, the tinting for auto glass is cut out. The whole process of toning is already half done. Now it's time to apply tint to the surface of the glass. At this stage, it will be necessary to separate the two parts of the automotive film, this can be done using adhesive tape, which is glued on both sides at several levels, after which it is stretched in all four directions. This is where a soapy solution comes in handy: spray it on the glass from a spray bottle, then apply the film tightly to the glass and move the tint as much as necessary so that it best fits on the glass.

Now the most important thing is to smooth the tint film with a rubber scraper. Gently remove water and remove water bubbles with a dry, lint-free cloth. The protective layer of the film must be carefully and slowly removed and carefully smoothed out. Such car tuning at home will take time, so allocate at least 5 hours to solve this problem.

The final stage

Tinting the windshield and rear windows is a more complicated process, so be sure to start with the side windows of the car. But for a car 2109, removing the rear windows is not at all such a super task: you just need to pull out the cord and squeeze out the glass. In fact, the process of pasting the film on these glasses is exactly the same as for side windows. The only big glass needs to be glued in two passes. It is necessary to divide the rear window into two equal zones and cut out the film. Next, glue the film from top to bottom. We do not leave gaps, do not overlap. In the future, the protective layer is carefully removed, first - one third, then gradually the rest.

The main thing is not to forget to spray the glass with soapy water and smooth the film on the rear glass with particular scrupulousness, because it is curved and can bring a lot of trouble. At the end of all operations and after the films have dried on the glass, that is, after about 9 hours have passed, you need to put the windows in place, which is done with the help of a nylon thread or in another way. That's all - the car is tinted. As a result, it will be necessary to rinse all the windows again, this time with plain water from a spray bottle, and gently scrape off the remaining adhesive substance.

Light transmission gradation

pay special attention

Important points that should not be overlooked when applying tinting to car windows, especially if you do the work yourself:

  1. Glass washing should be done meticulously, wash them several times so that the tinting work goes as smoothly as possible. Particular attention should be paid to the edges of the glass.
  2. If there is dirt on the glass that is very difficult to wash off, do not be shy, boldly, but carefully scrape the glass with a sharp knife, or better, with an ordinary clerical one.
  3. In no case should the glasses be dried after washing, they should dry on their own so that there are no streaks.
  4. Remember to protect the inside of the car, in case the glass cannot be removed.
  5. It is better to level the film from the middle to the edges of the glass in order to remove excess air and solution.
  6. The film will adhere more easily to the glass if it is applied by two people, so ask for help.
  7. The main thing is to prevent the remains of the solution under the film, even in a small amount.
  8. As long as the film is wet, it can still be adjusted.
  9. Some write that it is possible to apply a soapy solution to the film itself, but in fact it is better not to get carried away with this, otherwise the tint film will slide off the glass over time.
  10. In the event of bubbles appearing on the surface of the rear windows, a special industrial hair dryer will help a lot. It is very important not to overcook or exceed the allowed temperature limits, i.e. 200 degrees Celsius.
  11. Drying takes up to 9 hours, so the best option is to start the “Y” operation of cutting off excess film from the glasses in the afternoon and leave it overnight in the garage.
  12. Until the windows are dry, in no case do not lower them and do not raise the windows!
  13. It is recommended not to install glass seals for 2 weeks!

It's hard to do, but it's possible. Choose a film that is darker and apply it to all glasses. Do not save on materials and do not rush in the process of doing the work. Get down to business with confidence and patience, and an excellent result will not be long in coming. Tinting yourself is a nice technical challenge and a good option for savings.

Many car owners try to change the look of their car the way they like. An important addition in this case is tinting. However, not everyone thinks that they need to tint their car - this is a personal matter for everyone.

The process of toning requires accuracy. Before applying the film, you need to prepare the surface. With experience in carrying out such work, you can perform glass tinting on your own without contacting specialists.

This article will discuss in more detail the process of gluing a film on glass, as well as its choice.

Choice

There are many types of tinting films on the market today. It is quite difficult to choose the right one among them, because you can talk about the pros and cons of each film for a very long time. It should be borne in mind that in no case should you take the cheapest tint made in China. Outside, it almost does not darken the glass, and from the inside, the view deteriorates significantly, which can lead to an accident. In addition, the Chinese film is difficult to glue, as it does not take the form of glass.

In order to choose a quality film, it is best to contact the sellers of the store. They will give you all the information you need and help you choose the right tools.

Necessary materials and tools

Glass tinting is a rather complicated process, which will require special tools, namely:

  • Spray;
  • Raquel;
  • Napkins;
  • Sponge;
  • Scraper;
  • Ruler;
  • Special knife;
  • Hairdryer, preferably building.

It will seem strange to many that the fact why a sprayer is needed when tinting. In fact, everything is simple. In order for the film to better adhere to the glass, a soapy solution is applied to both surfaces before starting the process. When preparing it, it is necessary to observe the proportions: 5 drops of detergent per 1.5 liters of water. Shake the solution for best results.

In order for the film to lay perfectly in the future, it is necessary to completely clean the glass. If they are too dirty, then the top layer is best removed with plain water, and then with a soapy solution.

Film pattern for side windows

In order for the film to stick perfectly and be easier to work with, you need to cut it to size. Before you start, you need to understand which side of the film has a sticky layer. It must be protected by a transparent material. It is best to cut the film in such a way that it touches the glass with the inside of the inversion. When cutting, it should be borne in mind that the film should protrude beyond the border of the glass by 0.5-1 cm, since the extra piece can then be cut off, and if it is not enough, it will be worse.

For precise cutting, it is necessary to apply a soapy solution to the outside of the glass. Next, you need to put a film there so that the transparent material is on the outside. The film must be placed so that it covers the entire surface of the glass. From below, it should slightly cover the seal. Next, you need to cut the tint film along the contour of the side seal, leaving about 1 cm in reserve, which must be threaded under the seal. Now you need to cut off the remnants of the upper part of the film, then pass it under the upper seal. The film should follow the contour of the glass.

If the side windows are deaf and do not fall, then you need to cut the film along the contour, leaving only a couple of millimeters in reserve. In this case, you need to cut it out very carefully, as you can ruin the seal. To protect the elements of the car from scratches, it is best to apply a squeegee.

The remains of the film should not be left on the glass, but it is better to throw it away immediately, as they will interfere with further work. If blind windows are limited by a body without a seal, then the film must be cut out very carefully. The knife for this must be sharpened, if it becomes dull, it can damage the film and scratch the body.

Rear window pattern

The glass must be completely dry before application. Next, with a damp cloth or sponge, you need to apply 2 vertical lines closer to the edges and 1 horizontal line in the center. Now you need to put a tint film on the glass with a transparent material outward. When cutting, you need to leave a margin of a couple of millimeters.

Now we need to remove the leftovers. It is most convenient to do this with two people, so you need an assistant. He should smooth the film so that all horizontal creases disappear. To do this, you can use a squeegee. Vertical creases are best removed with a hairdryer, but this must be done very carefully, as there is a risk of overheating or burning the film. After that, you need to smooth the film with a squeegee so that it takes the form of glass. This must be done from the center to the edges, in all directions. Actions must be careful so that creases and folds do not appear again, since it will be almost impossible to remove them later.

Now you need to use a flashlight or other device to check whether the film has been removed everywhere. To do this, the lamp must be placed in the cabin near the glass and all residues that go behind the seal must be removed from the outside, leaving literally 1-2 mm in reserve.

Applying film to side windows

Now the main part is the application of the film. You need to start by wetting the glass surface. Next, you need to clean the entire surface with a scraper. After that, it is necessary to wipe the glass with a cloth, and then dry it completely.

Next, you need to apply a soap solution to the surface of the glass from the inside. After that, you need to remove the transparent material from the film. So that it does not stick together, you also need to wet it with plenty of soapy water. It is most convenient to remove a little the transparent part and immediately apply the solution. It is also advisable to wet your hands so that they do not stick to the film.

Now you need to apply the film on the glass, it should lie exactly along the contour, without touching the seals. Next, you need to level the top of the film and glass. After that, you can start leveling. You also need to remove all bubbles and bumps with a squeegee. You need to do this from the center to the edges. When the film has stuck perfectly, it is necessary to remove the remaining film with a knife. After the process is completed, it is not recommended to touch the film until it dries.

Rear window application

cleaning rear window do not allow the use of a scraper, as it can damage the heating lines. It must be done only with a sponge. Then it is necessary to dry the glass completely.

Next, you need to wet the glass abundantly. Before doing this, you need to cover the rear shelf with a dry cloth or other material. Now you need to remove the transparent part from the film and moisten it with plenty of soapy water. You will need an assistant to apply the film to the glass. Together with it, you need to stick the film and align it on the top. Next, you need to remove all bubbles with a squeegee. This can only be done horizontally so as not to damage the heating threads. After the process is completed, the film should not be touched for about 2 days.

Outcome

Car window tinting is a tricky business. From the first time, almost no one succeeds in sticking the film neatly. Therefore, if there is no experience in applying tinting on car windows, then it is better to contact the masters. The cost of such work is different.

An article on how to properly tint car windows. The choice of film, the process of work, subtleties and tips. At the end of the article - a video on how to tint a car with your own hands.

The content of the article:

Car window tinting is very popular among car owners. One of the reasons for the popularity of tinting is the ability to give the appearance of the car individuality. Not the last role is played by the creation of comfort in the car.

Modern films allow you to almost completely close the interior from prying eyes. At the same time, their light transmission does not affect the quality of the view. In the article we will talk about how to perform high-quality tinting without resorting to the services of a tuning studio.

Choosing a film

The modern market for car tinting films is truly huge, and a separate article is needed for its qualitative review. The main recommendation when choosing a film is to refrain from purchasing simple sets from Chinese manufacturers. The miser pays twice, and the quality of Chinese goods in most cases leaves much to be desired.

If you want a high quality finish, get quality roll type film. It will not be superfluous to talk with the sellers of films and listen to the reviews of motorists who have already done tinting.

We select materials and tools for work

The set of toning tools is not very large and is quite affordable for purchase:
  • Sprayer (manual);
  • Scraper;
  • Sharp scissors;
  • Paper napkins);
  • Metal ruler;
  • Sponge (hard);
  • Distillation (soft and hard);
  • Stationery knife;
  • Mounting hair dryer.
In addition to the film itself, when tinting a car, the main consumable is a soap solution. It is not difficult to prepare - five drops of detergent for a car are taken per one and a half liters of water. The solution should be thoroughly mixed and poured into a spray bottle. The solution is intended for high-quality cleaning of tinted surfaces and simplification of its smoothing during pasting.

For any part of the car that you are going to tint, you must first cut out the pattern. When making patterns, you should follow a few simple rules.

First, we find a layer with an adhesive composition. It is not difficult to do this - just look at which side the transparent protection is on.

Cutting is always carried out along the roll, while it is necessary to give a small allowance for further adjustment. The allowance is made in a few centimeters. The beginning of making a pattern begins with moistening the glass and cutting off a piece of the required size from the roll, which must be laid on the moistened glass with a protective layer towards you.

Then you need to align the bottom edge of the workpiece parallel to the bottom glass seal. The workpiece should be placed with an overlap on the seal of about one centimeter. In this field, vertical cuts are made in the pattern blank so that it has an overlap on the vertical sealing edge of the door.

Having done these operations, the lower part of the film is folded and fixed on the upper edge. By fixing the film along the edge of the glass, you can make an upper horizontal cut and give the pattern a finished shape.

The pattern for non-opening windows is made with a smaller allowance than the previous one. The allowance should be only a few millimeters.

For these glasses, the cutting of the film is carried out similarly to the cutting for moving glasses. It is also applied to moistened glass with the adhesive side facing you. Here it is worth taking special care where the opaque area is limited by the sealant.

In order not to damage the seal, it is necessary to cut the film using a distillation, which is applied to the seal for safety. Do not forget that for a quality and clean cut, you should always have a sharp knife. At the slightest dullness, remove parts of the blade that have become unusable. If there is an opaque layer of paint on the glass, make a pattern that slightly overlaps the paint.

Making a rear window pattern is slightly different from side windows. Unlike previous work, we need dry glass and dry film. Next, we write the symbol “H” on the glass with a wet sponge.

The film is laid on the glass along the roll, and its adhesive surface must be turned outward. As before, a sufficient allowance must be made, taking into account the sphericity of the glass.

Excess tinting material is carefully cut off. It is not very convenient to do this alone, and it is good if you have a partner. The workpiece is aligned on the glass in such a position that it does not have horizontal creases - only vertical creases are allowed for this operation. The film is smoothed out with light horizontal and vertical movements.

It is to smooth out the folds of the film that you will need a mounting hair dryer. During this operation, special care must be taken not to overheat the workpiece.

It should be remembered that only vertical creases are smoothed out by heating. After removing all wrinkles, apply soapy water to the glass and pattern blank and smooth again. If everything was done carefully, the film will take the form of glass and will not have wrinkles.

The pattern blank is smoothed from the center to the edge. This operation must be done carefully, and to simplify the work, use forcing. Pay special attention to the creases of the film - they should not be. The film must be smoothed gently and evenly.

The final step in creating a pattern for glass is the precise trimming of the edges. The cut line, which will pass along the workpiece, needs to slightly overlap the opaque areas of the glass. To facilitate this task, use the backlight, placing it in the car.

After all the necessary patterns are prepared, you can start toning. Before gluing, you will need to thoroughly clean the glass. This operation is performed using a scraper and abundant wetting with the prepared solution.

After cleaning the lower glass segment, the upper part of the glass is cleaned. To perform this operation, you will need to lower the glass. Keep a close eye on the absence of uncleaned areas.

After processing the glass with a scraper, it must be thoroughly rinsed again with a hard sponge. Wipe the glass with a distillation of rubber, and its edges with a paper napkin. When finished, thoroughly wet the glass again and walk over it with a rubber distillation. All these operations are necessary for high-quality adhesion of the film to glass.

Immediately before sticking the film itself, the glass is once again abundantly wetted with soapy water. They begin to paste over the glass by lowering it a couple of centimeters from above. A part of the protective layer is removed from the pattern, approximately two-thirds of the size of the pattern itself. The adhesive layer is also moistened with soapy water.

If you do not have a sufficient supporting surface at hand, then you can perform the operation to remove the protective layer on the hood or rear window. Before starting work, it is advisable to cut off the removed part of the protective layer so that it does not interfere.

In addition to wetting the glass and film, wet your hands as well. Hands must be washed, as during the pasting process they will come into contact with the adhesive composition of the pattern.

After preparation, the pattern is carefully placed on the glass. Contact of the film with seals and other parts should be avoided. The pattern is aligned in accordance with the upper edge of the glued glass, and after checking for the absence of gaps, the liquid is carefully squeezed out from under the glued film.

At the initial stage of squeezing out the solution, it is possible that the pattern will slide a little over the surface, so hold it with your hand for insurance. Extrusion of the solution is made from the center to the edge of the pattern. Soft material is used first, and then hard material is distilled.

Hard forcing is used in the same way as soft forcing - from the center to the edge. With the help of distillation and a mounting hair dryer, the pattern is fixed to the edge of the glass along the upper edge. Excess patterns protruding beyond this edge are cut off with a knife, which will allow you to leave no gaps.

After pasting the upper part of the glass, it rises and is abundantly wetted with a solution in the lower part. The protective layer is finally removed, and the film is carefully tucked under the lower glass seal. During this operation, you should ensure that there are no creases on the pattern. It is convenient to bend the seal with a forcing.

The solution is removed from under the pattern, as in previous cases. You can finally eliminate moisture by distillation wrapped in a napkin. Once again, make sure that all the solution is removed and that there is no air and moisture left under the pattern.

Pasting deaf windows of the car is made according to a similar technology.

Since this car glass is in most cases equipped with heating filaments, cleaning it is slightly different from cleaning the side windows. It is not recommended to use a scraper for this purpose - it is better to use a plastic spatula. After processing the glass with a spatula, rinse it thoroughly with a hard sponge, wipe it with napkins and hard distillation.

Glass, as well as during the operation with side windows, is abundantly wetted with soapy water. After removing the protective layer, immediately moisten the adhesive with a solution. Next, the pattern is brought over the glass. The film tends to curl, so it is advisable to resort to outside help to avoid creases.

The pattern is aligned on the glass and the absence of gaps is checked. The pattern is smoothed from the center to the edges with the help of a rubber forcing. In places where smoothing is difficult, you can use a plastic spatula.

The film is moistened again and the final removal of the solution is carried out using distillation wrapped in a napkin. This operation must be done by carefully working along the heating threads, trying not to damage them. As a final step, the film is pressed around the perimeter, while the edge is heated with a hairdryer. But be careful - do not overheat the glass!

Car windshield tinting

To tint the windshield of the car, the same film is used as on the other glasses. A strip of light reflection is made from it. The band width can be almost any, but it is worth observing reasonable limits.

The blank for the pattern is cut along the film and, as mentioned above, a small allowance is made. The windshield is wetted with a liquid, and the workpiece is laid out on it with an adhesive composition outside. The film is carefully trimmed along the edge of the seal, and the excess is removed.

The pattern is smoothed according to the same principle as the previous ones - vertical folds are allowed. The folds are heated with a hair dryer and smoothed out by distillation. When performing this operation, be extremely careful - windshield does not like sudden temperature changes and the pattern should be warmed up gradually.

Next, the workpiece is folded in half, and before that it is wetted, and serifs are made on it at a distance of about 100 mm from the upper edge. The notch is made along the edge of the workpiece and then carried down a few tens of millimeters at an angle to the horizontal cut. Serifs, if possible, should be applied as often as possible.

After the serifs are made, the bottom unnecessary material is removed, and the workpiece is unfolded. The bottom edge will now have a lot of teeth that are sheared off. This method will allow you to make a reflective strip of almost any width.

The final stage in the manufacture of the pattern is its location on the glass and precise trimming. Otherwise, pasting this glass with a film is no different from pasting side windows.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is worth noting that the patterns are made from the outside of the car, but pasting with a film is done from the inside. This process is not the easiest, but with due patience, you can handle it.
