Having spun off the premium brand Genesis from Hyundai's parent brand, the Koreans have never hidden their strategy of expanding into global markets. Korea first, then the United States and the Middle East, and the next foothold is Russia! Back in the days of the Moscow Motor Show, I was able to film the flagship Genesis G90 sedan with Russian numbers in the parking lot of the Crocus Expo exhibition center, in which the company's management arrived at the premiere of Crete. And now the official presentation of the Genesis brand in Russia has taken place.
With cars of the new brand, readers of Autoreview, so now the strategy of their promotion in Russia is the most interesting. Cars for our market will be assembled from SKDs at the Avtotor Kaliningrad plant. The first to be released is the Genesis G90 executive sedan, which replaced the well-known Hyundai Equus model. Sales will begin in October, and will be handled by carefully selected Hyundai dealerships: according to preliminary data, there will be about thirty of them. The creation of separate show rooms is still only in the distant plans.
The complete sets are already known, and they are specific for Russia. For example, only HTRAC all-wheel drive vehicles will be supplied to us. The base version will be the Premier version with a V6 3.8 engine (309 hp), nine airbags, bi-xenon headlights, adaptive suspension, leather interior, heated and electrically adjustable rear sofa, a navigator, a rear view camera, door closers and a Lexicon audio system.
The Elite trims add adaptive LED headlights, surround-view cameras, head-up display and second row entertainment. Moreover, such a car can be bought both with the aforementioned 3.8 aspirated, and with the latest V6 3.3 T-GDI biturbo engine with a capacity of 370 hp. The same engine, along with the flagship "eight" 5.0 (413 hp), will be available in the richest Royal configuration with separate second-row seats, auto-braking and lane control systems.
Electronic assistants for a separate fee can be installed on the first two versions. And at the top of the range - a modification lengthened by 290 mm, which the Koreans call "limousine". But, strictly speaking, a car without a partition between the rows is just an elongated sedan. However, this is unlikely to stop buyers: in previous years, the long-wheelbase version of the Ekus accounted for up to 10% of sales, although in 2015 there were only six buyers.
Pricing for the G90 will be announced at the same time as sales begin. Don't expect cheap premium sedans, however. Most likely, compared to the Hyundai Equus model (from 3.4 million rubles), prices will rise by about a third. This means that you need to navigate around 4.5 million! Although it is still cheaper than the Mercedes S-class, which now costs from 5.9 million rubles.
What's next? A business sedan, that is, a restyled Hyundai Genesis with an expanded set of equipment, will appear with us in early 2017. A year later, the Genesis G70 sedan the size of a BMW three-ruble note will arrive in Russia - it was shown at the last auto show in New York. And then, in full compliance with the global, there will be a large and compact crossovers plus a two-door, replacing the discontinued Hyundai Genesis Coupe. But these models do not even have names yet, and their market launch is scheduled for the end of the decade.
Genesis Motors is the luxury transportation arm of the South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai Motor Group. Originally envisioned alongside plans for a new Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan in 2004, the Genesis brand was officially declared a standalone brand on November 4, 2015.
Genesis car: the history of the brand
Hyundai unveiled the Concept Genesis in March 2007 as "a progressive interpretation of the modern rear-wheel drive sports sedan." The idea to develop the Genesis was conceived in 2003. The development of the body design took three years, and the total cost of the program to develop the new car was more than $ 500 million, and in time it took a little over 23 months.

Genesis announced the launch of its first model, the G90 (EQ900 in South Korea) on December 9, 2015. The G90 will also be the brand's flagship model. Genesis launched in the US at the end of 2016, with the G80 and G90 on sale. Initial dealerships are a subset of existing Hyundai dealerships with dedicated space for Genesis in dealer showrooms.
The third Genesis G70 was unveiled on September 14, 2016 in Namyang, South Korea. The vehicle was introduced to the US market on March 28, 2018 at the New York Auto Show.

The Genesis G80 has received many updates for 2018. Most notable is the new sporty trim that features unique suspension and steering tuning, improved brakes, special styling and a turbocharged V6 engine.
Remaining G80 models get fuel economy and a slight styling update, along with new (and mostly standard) content available, including LED headlights, pedestrian detection for automatic braking, driver inattention monitor, wireless smartphone charging and an optional USB port. There are also some improved interior trims.

Premium Package 3.8 ($ 47,700) adds LED fog lights, panoramic sunroof, front and rear parking sensors, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, rear sun visor, manual rear sun visors, larger instrument cluster display, wireless smartphone charging and 14-speaker Lexicon sound system with Clari-Fi digital music enhancement technology.
The full package ($ 52,800) adds adaptive LED headlights, a MultiView parking camera, redesigned leather upholstery, a matte wood trim option, a 9.2-inch touchscreen interface with redundant center console controller, and a 17-speaker Lexicon sound system.
The G80 5.0 ($ 58,000) includes all package contents in a 3.8 plus a V8 engine, 19-inch wheels and a microfiber suedecloth headliner.
The G80 Sport ($ 56,200) also includes the standard 3.8 package plus turbo-V6, unique 19-inch wheels, special exterior and interior features, sports adaptive suspension, upgraded brakes, 3-spoke sports steering wheel, black microfiber subwoofer and carbon fiber interior. A heated steering wheel was also added to the Sport package.
The official debut of the 2019 genesis g80 executive sedan took place this spring at the Shanghai Motor Show. The Hyundai car is intended to force the fight against the German mid-size E-class models. And recently the car has appeared on the Russian market.

The Genesis brand appeared on the automotive horizon relatively recently. And the answer to the question - who is the manufacturer of these cars for many drivers is still unknown. Basically, the manufacturer of luxury sedans is the Korean company Hyundai. The picture is effectively crowned by the rear end of the body with a small trunk, decorated with a winged logo, cute brake lights and the number eighty in the right corner of the trunk. And from under the muscular rear bumper, twin tailpipes peek out.

Hyundai developers meticulously worked on the genesis interior. Soft-touch leather, soft plastic at hand, eye-pleasing little things and innovations. Nice features include a non-locking automatic transmission selector, as well as aluminum trims on the door cards and cockpit, well-profiled seats. Everything is nice and beautiful, but in comparison with direct German competitors - still a little budget.

However, the landing behind the wheel is quite comfortable, besides, optionally, all the seats, including the second row, can be electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated (see photo of the cabin). There is plenty of legroom for second-row passengers. Rich equipment can count on a panoramic roof, which will add space to the cabin. But you will not surprise any of your classmates with a 493-liter trunk - this is a fairly average figure.
Multimedia innovation
The equipment of the genesis g80 2019 car can be considered worthy. The model has multi-zone climate control, optional adaptive suspension, an advanced multimedia system with navigation and a decent 8 or 9.2 inch screen.

Diesel versions
There are no diesel modifications for the g80 2019. Genesis is focused mainly on the markets of the USA and the countries of the Asian region, and there diesel buyers are not particularly honored.
Petrol engines

The International North American Auto Show, which took place in January 2016, marked the world debut of Genesis, Hyundai's premium sub-brand, the full-size G90 sedan, which was first unveiled back in December 2015 in Seoul under the South Korean name “ EQ900 ".
The car, which replaced the Hyundai Equus limousine, embodied the design concept “Athletic Elegance”, “prescribed” powerful motors under its hood and received a rich functionality that is in no way inferior to eminent competitors.
The appearance of the Genesis G90 is in complete order - the Korean sedan looks beautiful, aristocratic and imposing. The frowning front of the car is enlivened by the graceful plastic of LED headlights and a powerful chrome "blade" of the radiator grill, and its monumental stern is crowned with spectacular lanterns and a pair of trapezoidal exhaust outlets. Yes, and in profile, the four-door did not disappoint, demonstrating a stylish and status look.
In terms of its overall dimensions, "G-ninety" meets the standards of the F-class according to the European classification: length - 5205 mm, height - 1495 mm, width - 1915 mm, wheelbase - 3160 mm. Depending on the modification, in the "stowed" form, the premium three-volume weighs from 2420 to 2595 kg.

- Up a notch is the 3.3-liter (3342 cc) V-six-cylinder T-GDI engine with turbocharger and direct power, which peaks at 370 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 510 Nm of torque at 1300-4500 rpm / minute. With such a "heart" (it has both rear and four-wheel drive), the three-volume volume changes 100 km / h in 6.2-6.4 seconds, fits within 240 km / h and “eats” no more than 7.8-8.5 liters of gasoline in the cycle “ city \u200b\u200b/ highway ".
- Under the hood of the "top" version is "hidden" an atmospheric V8 GDI unit with a volume of 5.0 liters (5038 cubic centimeters) with direct fuel injection, producing 425 "heads" of 6000 rpm and 520 Nm of possible thrust at 5000 rpm and accompanied only all-wheel drive transmission. Such a sedan "shoots" from zero to "hundreds" in 5.7 seconds, its capabilities do not exceed 240 km / h, and fuel consumption fits into 7.2-7.3 liters in combined conditions.
The Genesis G90's all-wheel drive solutions feature the HTRAC transmission, co-developed with Magna Powertrain, with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the front axle drive. During normal travel, the torque goes mainly to the rear wheels, but if necessary, from 30 to 40% of the thrust is automatically transferred to the front, depending on the situation.
At the heart of the Genesis G90 is a stretched version of the rear-wheel drive platform of the Hyundai Genesis sedan with an independent front and rear chassis layout - two-wishbone and four-link architecture, respectively (both with conventional shock absorbers and springs). For a surcharge, the car is available with a GACS suspension with adaptive dampers, electronically controlled.
High-strength steels are widely used in the structure of the monocoque body of a full-size sedan (their share is 51.5%), but there are practically no light-alloy materials in it. All wheels of the Korean flagship are equipped with ventilated brake discs with a bunch of electronic "gadgets", and its steering mechanism is complemented by an electric amplifier with progressive characteristics.
Options and prices. In the Russian market, the Genesis G90 in 2017 can be purchased with three gasoline engines and in three levels of equipment - Premier, Elite and Royal (in addition, a long-wheelbase version is available).
The "simplest" three-volume configuration is estimated at 4,475,000 rubles, and its functionality is formed by nine airbags, leather interior, bi-xenon headlights, a Lexicon audio system with 17 speakers, an advanced multimedia complex, as well as all electrically adjustable seats , heated and ventilated. In addition, the "base" includes adaptive suspension, ABS, EBD, ESP, Brake Assist, blind spot monitoring technology and a bunch of other equipment.
For a "top" car, you will have to pay a minimum of 5,675,000 rubles, and its features are considered to be separate rear seats, adaptive LED headlights, an entertainment center for rear passengers, panoramic cameras, a projection display, as well as a complex of electronic assistants (lane tracking function, system automatic braking, etc.).
Well, the gamut of modifications is crowned by the G90L sedan with an extended wheelbase - its cost starts from the "bar" of 5,975,000 rubles.
