"Skoda Octavia Scout": reviews, specifications, configuration. Characteristics of the station wagon octavia scout Power unit and transmission

19.12.2020

Skoda is a fairly well-known brand in Russia. One of the popular models of this manufacturer is the Octavia. It is a compact family car, produced as a liftback and station wagon. However, this is not the only modification of the Octavia. Its all-wheel drive version - "Skoda Octavia Scout" deserves special attention. Test drive, review, photos and specifications - further in our article.

Appearance

The design of this car was copied from the Skoda Octavia liftback. This can be seen in many body parts. In general, the Scout version was designed by analogy with the Audi Allroad, which, in turn, was developed on the basis of the A6.

The Czechs did a similar thing: taking the liftback platform, they increased the ground clearance and added more prominent bumpers and linings on the sidewalls. The car comes with xenon optics and 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. In general, the design of the Skoda Octavia Scout car looks nice. The car has the habits of an SUV, and at the same time it is a classic European station wagon.

Are there problems with the bodywork?

As noted by the reviews, the Skoda Octavia Scout is well protected from rust. The bottom is additionally sewn up with plastic overlays. This at the same time protects against the ingress of dirt and at the same time has a positive effect on aerodynamics. However, there are a couple of points on the body. According to the reviews, in the "Skoda Octavia Scout" paint is wiped on the doorways. This is due to the sealing gum. As a result, these areas are covered with a rusty coating. Also on the radiator grill chrome fades. The corporate logo burns out. But this is only observed on versions before 2009. On new cars, there are no problems with either the seals or the radiator grille.

Dimensions, clearance

Auto "Skoda Octavia Scout" has almost the same dimensions as a regular liftback. So, the total body length is 4.58 meters, width - 1.77, height - 1.53 meters. Among the features it is worth noting the clearance of the Skoda Octavia Scout. The clearance on standard discs is 18 centimeters. Thanks to this clearance, the car is able to overcome sandy roads without any problems and move confidently on wet dirt roads.

Interior

As noted by the reviews, the Skoda Octavia Scout has a comfortable and ergonomic interior. Everything is in its place. The controls are intuitive to use. However, there are many who give rise to design criticism. The interior is frankly old-fashioned. There are no distinctive elements here - everything is strict and familiar, just like on a Volkswagen.

The salon itself is not much different from the liftback. In fact, they are one and the same interior. The plastic in the cabin is soft to the touch, but the upholstery is not durable - say the reviews. On the positive side, the owners note the excellent visibility. Skoda Octavia Scout has informative mirrors and dead zones are minimized.

There is quite a lot of space in the cabin. Even tall people can fit comfortably here. This also applies to the rear row of seats. It accommodates up to three people. The only thing that causes complaints is the high body tunnel.

For the Skoda Octavia Scout, only one configuration is provided - the maximum. What's included in the Skoda Octavia Scout package? it includes climate control, front and side airbags, rain and light sensors, ABS and stability control systems, power steering, electric mirrors and power windows, and an adjustable steering column.

Now about the weak points. As noted by the reviews, the Skoda Octavia Scout may have problems with the air conditioning system. The reason for this is the failure of the compressor. To prevent this, it is important to monitor the level of refrigerant in the system and not allow the climate control to operate with a low CFC content. There is also a glitch in the windows - when they try to close, they begin to open again. The reason for this is trivial - contamination of the guides. After cleaning them, the windows work as expected.

The trunk is one of the main advantages of this car. He in the station wagon "Skoda Octavia Scout" has a volume of 580 liters. But this is far from the limit. The backrest can also be folded down. The result is a flat floor and a loading area of \u200b\u200ba whopping 1,620 liters. This is an order of magnitude more than in such competitors as Ford Focus, Renault Megan and Opel Astra.

Skoda Octavia Scout and specifications

Now let's pay attention to the power section of the car. Officially, Skoda Octavia Scout was delivered to Russia only with gasoline engines. Diesel engines for the Skoda Octavia Scout were not available in Russia. If there are any, these are versions brought from abroad.

The base engine was an atmospheric engine with a working volume of two liters. He developed a capacity of 150 horsepower. In more expensive trim levels, a four-cylinder turbocharged 1.8-liter unit with 180 horsepower was provided.

What do the owners say about Skoda gasoline engines?

Power units of the FSI and TSI series are generally reliable and technologically advanced. Both engines are equipped with individual ignition coils, variable valve timing and direct fuel injection. Gas distribution mechanism - belt and chain for the senior and junior motor, respectively.

But nevertheless, it was the two-liter power unit that turned out to be more reliable. As for malfunctions, over the years of operation, the owners have experienced:

  • Failure of the ignition coils (usually due to untimely replacement of the spark plugs).
  • Breakage of the corrugation of the exhaust system (there are only two of them).

It is also worth noting that the timing belt, according to the regulations, should be changed every 120 thousand kilometers. But experienced motorists are advised to reduce this mileage to 70 thousand. After all, if the belt breaks, the owner will go for expensive and serious repairs.

Among the pitfalls of the 1.8-liter turbo engine, the owners note increased oil consumption. It can be up to 800 grams per thousand kilometers. In this case, you must always control the level. Driving with a low oil level leads to timing problems (hydraulic chain tensioners fail). As a result, the chain slips several teeth over the crankshaft gear. This increases the risk of valve contact with pistons. There is a problem B with the water pump. The pump loses its tightness over time. There are malfunctions with the turbocharger control solenoid valves. The high pressure pump fails.

Diesel

And what do the owners say about diesel Skodas imported from abroad? Here, too, there were some surprises. So, in these engines, problems with the injector o-rings are possible. As a result, the fuel flows freely into the lubrication system. The rest of the diesel engines are reliable and surprisingly well "digest" our fuel. The resource of the turbine is about 200 thousand kilometers.

Transmission

As for the transmission, the car is equipped with a mechanical six-speed gearbox. There are no problems with her. But on diesel modifications, a malfunction of the dual-mass flywheel is possible. The latter emits characteristic knocks and clicks when idling. As a rule, such a malfunction is diagnosed on a mileage of 150 thousand kilometers or more.

In terms of maintenance, the manual transmission is unpretentious. An oil change is required every 100 thousand kilometers. And the clutch resource can reach 200 thousand kilometers. On the same run, the release bearing also wears out. There are no problems with the clutch drive, which is hydraulic.

Four-wheel drive

Without exception, all Scout vehicles come with four-wheel drive. He acts as follows. On hard asphalt surfaces, the power is transmitted to the front wheels. However, when slipping up to half the moment is redistributed to the rear axle. This is done thanks to the Haldex coupling. As cross-wheel locks - electronic imitation. The system automatically "bites" the turning wheels by means of blocks. The owners recommend disabling the ESP system when overcoming various obstacles, since the car simply refuses to go - the engine constantly decelerates. Locks (or rather, their imitation) are rarely saved.

As for the characteristics of cross-country ability, do not regard this car as an SUV. As the reviews note, the Skoda Octavia Scout is just an all-terrain wagon, but it should not be attributed to SUVs. Its maximum is a snowy road or a muddy puddle.

Chassis

Its design is similar to that of a liftback. So, in front there is an independent suspension with MacPherson struts, in the back - a multi-link. Additionally, the car is equipped with two transverse stabilizers. Also note that the Scout uses different springs and shock absorbers.

As for the characteristics of the suspension, it is rather knocked down. The car holds the road well and easily enters corners at high speed. But off-road, this car is powerless - say the reviews. Skoda Octavia Scout has a good ride. The suspension swallows road joints and other irregularities well.

Now about reliability. According to car owners, the suspension on the Skoda is quite hardy. After 80 thousand kilometers, the rear silent blocks of the front levers begin to fierce. The stabilizer struts nurture about 100 thousand kilometers. Ball joints have a resource of 200 thousand kilometers.

The rear suspension is equally reliable. After 100 thousand bushings and stabilizer struts are changed. After 150 thousand, the silent blocks of the rear breakup levers require replacement. The wheel bearings, unfortunately, are changing assembled with the hub. But their resource is large - about 200 thousand kilometers. At the same mileage, the silent blocks of the remaining levers require replacement. But there are also disadvantages. During this time, the bolts become very sour. And it is quite difficult to replace anything in the suspension.

The steering is a rack with an electric amplifier. The tips have a high resource, the rail itself does not break up to 150 thousand. The braking system includes four disc mechanisms with ABS sensors. There are no particular problems with the brakes. The calipers do not sour and move normally. The pads wear out as on all cars - the front ones after 35 thousand, the rear ones last twice as long.

Summing up

So, we found out what the Skoda Octavia Scout station wagon is. This car has good ground clearance, so that the owner can feel confident on the roads outside the asphalt surface. However, you should not count on anything more. Scout's off-road capabilities are not great. At the same time, this car is quite versatile - it has a large trunk and a comfortable suspension. If you buy a similar copy, then only after 2009. The versions released earlier had a lot of "jambs" in the body and interior. As for the engine, the most reliable was the atmospheric two-liter power unit on the mechanical box. This combination will be ideal for a given vehicle.

The path of the third generation Czech all-terrain station wagon to Russia turned out to be quite long ... First there was the spring world premiere of 2014 in Geneva, later the off-road station wagon looked at the Moscow International Motor Show and only in October, finally, the official sales in our country started.

The price of the Octavia Scout 2015 model year in Russia turned out to be slightly higher than the expected one, but not so much as to scare off potential buyers, since the advantages of this machine were quite consistent with the money requested for them.

By the third decade of December 2016, a restyled "off-road vehicle" arrived, which completed the renovation program for the entire Octavia family, stretching over three stages.

The car has undergone almost the same metamorphoses as the standard model - it has changed "in the face" due to the "four-eyed" optics, received new versions (albeit "not for Russia") and "equipped" with previously inaccessible equipment.

The second incarnation of the "Czech Scout" is larger than its predecessor and much more aggressive in terms of design. The exterior is based on the contours of the base station wagon of the third generation, but the stylish off-road plastic body kit with reinforced bumpers, special design of the rims, increased ground clearance and “Scout” nameplates will make it easy to distinguish the all-wheel drive station wagon from the city version.

The body of the novelty is almost 70% made of high-strength steel and a certain proportion of ultra-high-strength steel, which made it possible to reduce the weight of the car relative to its predecessor by an average of 27-30 kg. A significant step forward was also noted in terms of aerodynamics, and this is a direct contribution to lower fuel consumption and improved acoustic comfort in the cabin.

As for the dimensions, the length of the "second" Octavia Scout is 4685 mm, the wheelbase is 2679 mm, the width of the body does not exceed 1814 mm, and the height rests against the mark of 1531 mm. The ground clearance (ground clearance) of the "all-terrain" station wagon is 171 mm.

The interior of this modification is almost identical, in terms of design, to the interior of the regular version of the 3rd generation Octavia, but more expensive materials are used in its decoration in several combinations. In addition, numerous "Scout" inscriptions are distributed throughout the interior, harmoniously fitting into it and reminiscent of the "off-road" character of the car, and the pedals are equipped with stylish metal pads with rubber anti-slip inserts.

The interior of the car is very ergonomic, spacious, and on both rows of seats, and is complemented by a spacious trunk with a convertible double floor, a set of fasteners, a double-sided mat and a comfortable loading height.

The minimum luggage compartment volume is 588 liters (610 liters without a spare wheel), but with the second row of seats folded down, it increases to 1718 liters (1740 liters without a spare wheel). We also note that when the backrest of the front passenger seat is folded, it becomes possible to transport lenght lengths almost 3 meters long.

Specifications. Russian owners of an all-terrain station wagon will have to be content with only one version of the power plant. For this role, the Czech manufacturer chose a 4-cylinder in-line petrol unit with a displacement of 1.8 liters (1798 cc). The engine fully complies with the Euro-6 environmental standard, and the list of its equipment includes a 16-valve timing, direct fuel injection, a variable valve timing system, a Start / Stop system and turbocharging, which together allows to develop 180 "horses" of maximum power at 5100 - 6000 rpm. As for the torque, at the peak, reached at 1350 - 4500 rpm, it rests against the 280 Nm mark, making it possible to accelerate the station wagon from 0 to 100 km / h in an acceptable 7.8 seconds, and this is without activating the Sport ". Well, the upper speed threshold is marked at 216 km / h.

The Czechs also did not provide a choice of gearboxes - the only engine is paired with the only 6-speed "robot" DSG with two clutches, which allows achieving a very reasonable fuel consumption of the AI-95 brand at 6.9 liters in the combined operation cycle. Among the minuses of the gearbox, we note the "classic" desire to quickly switch to the top gear, which often leads to delayed switching when the accelerator is active, so for aggressive driving it is better to use the "Sport" mode in which these "flaws" are not so noticeable.

The "second Octavia Scout station wagon" was built on the basis of a slightly modernized VW MQB platform. The front end is supported by standard MacPherson strut independent suspension, while the rear is supported by an independent multi-link structure. Unlike the European version, the Russian version is equipped with more energy-intensive shock absorbers and a special package "for bad roads", which includes, among other things, engine crankcase protection.
The wheels of the front axle of the car have ventilated disc brakes, the rear wheels are assigned to simple disc brakes. The rack and pinion steering system demonstrates an electromechanical amplifier as an assistant. Also note that already in the base, the five-door is equipped with ABS + EBD, BAS, ESP systems and uphill assistance technology.

As stated at the outset, the Octavia Scout is a 5th generation Haldex all-wheel-drive wagon with electronic simulation of EDL. The system is capable of transmitting up to 90% of traction to the rear axle, as well as redistributing the moment between the wheels of the rear axle (up to 85% to one wheel), which guarantees good cross-country ability on light off-road conditions and excellent stability on wet or icy asphalt roads. In this regard, the "Scout" modification is as close as possible to crossovers, which will surely "spoil their nerves" in our market.

Options and prices. In Russia, the "refreshed" Skoda Octavia Scout 2017 is sold in one configuration, which is estimated at 1,962,000 rubles. The standard functionality of the off-road wagon is: six airbags, heated front seats, an electric boot lid, 17-inch rollers, a climate with two coverage zones, an ERA-GLONASS system, ABS, ESC, EBD, music with 8 columns, rear parking sensors and other modern options.
For a surcharge, the car can be equipped with LED headlights, a panoramic roof, a more advanced infotainment center, monitoring of "blind" zones, a lane departure assistant and other modern "chips".

The production of the Czech station wagon Skoda Octavia Scout began in 2007, and two years later a small facelift (FL) was carried out, which changed the design of the radiator grill. More serious transformations were made only a few years later, and since 2013, the Scout has been produced in a station wagon based on the third generation of Octavia. Let's take a closer look at the characteristics of the Skoda Octavia Scout.

Chassis

The Scout is one of the forerunners of today's crossovers. By its size, this station wagon belongs to the class "C". Creating a model based on the usual Skoda Octavia, Czech designers put reinforced springs on the suspension, due to which the clearance increased, now it is 178 mm. To protect the body, the Scout is equipped with a plastic body kit on the sides, on the bumpers and in the wheel arches. The Scout has 17-inch wheels for 225/50 tires.

The Skoda Octavia Scout has a full drive, without the use of a lower gear and additional locks. The rear axle is automatically engaged electronically when the front wheels begin to slip. A Haldex multi-plate clutch is used to transmit torque to the rear wheels.

Compared to its predecessors, the Scout boasts a better suspension, which, due to its balanced stiffness, allows it not to slow down when passing road irregularities and speed bumps. The increased ground clearance makes it possible to easily climb onto curbs and drive through deep ruts. Suspensions - rear multi-link and front "MacPherson" - independent, which improves handling and guarantees a smooth ride on any surface. The stability of the model is also commendable. Disc brakes are used at the front and rear for excellent deceleration at all speeds. It is pleasant to drive the car, it reacts sensitively to the driver's actions. Despite the high ground clearance, the car hardly rolls even on tight bends.

When passing a dirt surface with small potholes, even at low speeds, the car shakes slightly, which creates discomfort for passengers.

Engine and transmission

Skoda Scout is not equipped with an automatic transmission. The diesel and gasoline engines are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. The gear lever moves are small, the clarity of switching is optimal, there are no complaints about the operation of the box.

The diesel engine with a volume of 2 liters produces a torque of 320 N * m at 1750 rpm, and the gasoline 16-valve two-camshaft with a volume of 1.8 liters reaches 250 N * m at a number of revolutions per minute from 1500 to 4500. Diesel and gasoline engines allow acceleration up to 100 km / h in 10.2 and 8.4 seconds, respectively, which is pretty good for a car weighing more than 1500 kg. The maximum speed is 210 km / h. The manufacturer's declared fuel consumption of the gasoline version of the Scout is slightly more than 10 liters in the urban cycle and 6.4 liters on the highway, while the diesel model has 8.2 and 5.6 liters, respectively.

The noise isolation of the Skoda Scout is generally quite good, however, during acceleration, the engine and the noise emitted by the tires are heard in the cabin.

On the aggregate side, the Skoda Octavia Scout is designed and implemented almost perfectly. The increased ground clearance, powerful lighting technology, perfectly balanced suspension and control elements make this car reliable in terms of technical performance and behavior on the road.

Exterior and interior

Now let's turn our attention to the ergonomics of the car. In terms of appearance, this is a classic station wagon with characteristic Skoda silhouette lines. The black plastic body kit adds impressiveness, while the shape of the headlights and tailpipe adds a sporty touch to the car.

Inside the Skoda Octavia Scout FL, everything is thought out and looks quite harmonious, although the design itself will seem somewhat old-fashioned to someone. At the same time, it is immediately clear that all the details are of very high quality and fit perfectly. Nothing rattles, creaks, dangles. There are many different niches, shelves, drawers in the cabin where you can place small items that usually hang around the cabin and annoy.

The interior of the Octavia itself is designed almost perfectly, although there are still some complaints. For example, the joystick located on the vertical door panel for adjusting the mirrors is not very convenient to use, and the well-fed passengers may find the seat cushions too narrow. Also wide rapids are not very comfortable. You need to adapt to the exit and entrance to the salon so as not to get your clothes dirty, especially given the 18 centimeters of ground clearance.

It is worth noting the excellent visibility of the Scout, because even when leaving the uncomfortable parking spaces from the salon, everything can be seen perfectly.

This family "almost crossover", immediately after its appearance on the Russian market, found its niche, its fans. The model is designed for an ordinary family with 2-3 children. Taking everyone out into nature, taking with you a tent, bicycles, sleeping bags and a bunch of other absolutely necessary things, and most importantly a barbecue grill and a soup kettle - this will not be difficult with such a machine.

The Skoda Octavia Scout is a kind of all-terrain wagon - it seems like it is not an SUV, but there is four-wheel drive, significant ground clearance (179 mm) is available, and a huge trunk of 1620 liters - a combination of all this beckons out of town.

Externally, there is nothing special about the Skoda Octavia Scout. The plastic is resistant to scratches along the bottom of the body - it looks rustic, but Skoda does not try to splurge. The machine impresses with its simplicity. But the wheel arches, front and rear bumpers and doors are protected from damage. The bottom is also protected. Round bumper-mounted fog lamps, twin tailpipes and 17-inch Proteus wheels give the Scout a sporty, off-road look.

The interior of this car is comfortable, albeit somewhat old-fashioned. But everything is at hand and is made for people, so it causes not irritation, but some nostalgia - the monochrome screen of the on-board computer, a green speedometer, a small sunroof, into which you can't stick your head out. And yet all this is of excellent quality. Do not be afraid that something will start to fall off or creak - everything is done in good faith.

There are very voluminous niches on the doors, a lot of devices for little things - cup holders, pockets, nets in the trunk. The main thing is not to forget what you put where. The onyx interior color looks very harmonious with the dashboard. If you wish, you can buy a car with a more expensive interior design option - Alcantara leather trim looks great, it perfectly combines natural and artificial leather.

There are, of course, not entirely successful nuances. For example, the volume of music is regulated by the system depending on the speed, but this is done somewhat incorrectly, so you have to constantly interfere with the process. Although ... before, the volume was always adjusted manually and no one complained.

But when emergency braking automatically turns on "emergency gang" - it's annoying. Probably, the idea itself is not bad and serves security, but our mentality does not allow us to fully appreciate it. But, you must admit, all these are details that you can not focus on. Each has its own disadvantages.

Specifications. Skoda offers gasoline and diesel versions of the Octavia Scout, but only a modification equipped with a 1.8-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (152 hp) is supplied to the Russian market (as is already accepted). Both the one and the other option are currently equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Although, probably, many owners would prefer an automatic (which, by the way, has already become the de facto standard for crossovers).

Perhaps, on real off-road this "first Scout based on the second Octavia" will not always pass, but for Russian roads - be it a city street with "speed bumps" or a gravel lane - this is what you need. The car holds the road perfectly, enters corners clearly, without the slightest roll. The chassis is just surprisingly good for a no-nonsense car. Only electronics can turn on the four-wheel drive, but it knows its business. Whether on wet asphalt or on a snowy road, you will feel calm. Anti Slip Regulation - a system that increases the stability of the car on slippery surfaces, the EDS uphill start system, HBA + DSR brake complexes, which in the event of sharp braking will distribute the force to the optimal wheels - all this is about your comfort on the road.

The Octavia Scout may be simple in design, but not so simple in terms of technical characteristics. We have already mentioned that it has a turbocharged engine. So it accelerates no worse than its counterparts, close in weight and class (in 8.7 seconds to 100 km / h) and the maximum speed is not bad - 208 km / h, and the gasoline consumption will pleasantly please - with a weight of one and a half tons, this station wagon burns just under 8 liters per 100 kilometers (in mixed mode).

So, this is an almost ideal car for a family leading an active lifestyle - moderately passable, very roomy and, most importantly, everything in it is of German quality. Looks big enough, but there is a little secret - the wheelbase came from the Golf and is exactly the same size. But, looking at "Scout", it is hard to believe in it.

Price for Skoda Octavia Scout in 2009, one ~ 969 thousand rubles, because it is offered (on the Russian market) in a single complete set.

Skoda Octavia Scout is a representative of the all-wheel drive class of the model line of the renowned Czech car manufacturer. The Combi model was taken as a basis for the first car of this series, which managed to prove itself from the best side.

general information

The first Skoda Octavia Scout belonged to the “J” segment and were considered full-fledged off-road vehicles in all parameters and characteristics. Unlike its predecessor, on the platform of which the Scout was designed, the ground clearance is slightly higher and amounts to 180 mm, which was noticeable even in comparative photos. This indicator allows you to confidently move the car on roads of any quality and structure.

For the first time, the Scout model rolled off the assembly line in 2004 and represented the second generation of the rather popular Skoda Octavia car (encoding 1Z5). The production of these cars continued until 2008. The upgraded Scouts were released to the public in late 2008, and full sales began in 2009. From 2008 to 2013, buyers were offered three modifications of the all-wheel drive Skoda Octavia Scout. The representative of the third generation Skoda Octavia A7 Scout appeared in 2013, and its sales began from the beginning of the next.

The latest Skoda Octavia A7 Scout (5E5) is an all-wheel drive vehicle with increased ground clearance, unlike its predecessors and standard models. The dimensions of the ground clearance and the 4x4 formula allow this machine to be used in the most extreme conditions. According to its technical characteristics, the new Scout can be attributed to the “D” segment, which was a prominent representative of a spacious family SUV. The body shape belongs to the category of station wagons, and the number of seats, including the driver's one, is 5. The same number of doors, including a vertically opening luggage compartment lid.

Powertrain and transmission

Scout models are equipped with both gasoline and diesel power units. The gasoline engine has 1,798 cc. cm. (1.8 liters) in volume and has a capacity of 180 hp. (132 kW) at 6200 rpm. The powertrain is traditionally located at the front of the vehicle and is equipped with an efficient turbocharging system that provides the new Octavia Scout with impressive dynamic performance. The fuel injection system is provided with its distributed injection. Another engine option that buyers of these models can choose is the two-liter diesel.

The power of this power unit is 184 hp, and unlike the gasoline version, this model is equipped only with a robotic gearbox with six steps of operation.

Special attention should be paid to the automatic transmission of the Scouts. The drive to all four wheels of the model is permanent, not switchable. The DSG system is designed for high gears as a priority, however, when the sport mode is activated, the control is stabilized. The owners of many cars with a robotic gearbox note in their reviews the presence of tangible jerks when changing from one gear to another. The automatic transmission of the Skoda Octavia A7 Scout models is devoid of this drawback and the moment of transition from one gear to another is almost imperceptible. This fact is noted not only by ordinary motorists, but also by experienced specialists in the auto industry.

Car chassis, steering and brakes

The front suspension of the new Octavia Scout is completely independent and is made in the MacPherson style. This mechanism in the front of the car is distinguished by high-quality components, and the driving characteristics of the described model compare favorably not only with the previous generation, but also with modern representatives of other automotive brands.

The rear suspension of the car has a multi-link design of working mechanisms and is dependent. It is worth noting the work of the designers and engineers of the Czech automobile plant, who eliminated many of the shortcomings of the rear suspension of this car. So, for the most part there are no inert movements of the rear of the car when hitting a road obstacle. This became possible thanks to a slightly modified design of the suspension elements and the use of more rigid materials in the manufacture of parts.

The design of the high-performance braking system of the described Scout model is calculated based on the technical and operational qualities of the vehicle. The front and rear wheels are equipped with disc brakes. Moreover, if the rear brakes have a conventional design, then they are ventilated at the front. This feature affects the rapid cooling of the disc surface during emergency braking, preventing deformation of the disc due to excessive heating of its surface from friction with brake pads.

Overall dimensions

The length of the Octavia Scout is 4685 mm, which is quite an impressive indicator for a family car of an all-wheel drive SUV. The model is 1814 mm wide and 1531 mm high. In this case, the ground clearance or clearance has an indicator of 171 mm. The curb weight of the Octavia Scout is 1522 kg, and the gross weight for normal use should not exceed 2092 kg.

As noted above, the new Skoda Scout is quite roomy, as evidenced by the volume of the luggage compartment with a standard rear-row seat position of 588 liters. If necessary, the boot capacity can be increased by first transforming the second row of seats. This operation will increase the capacity of the luggage compartment to an impressive 1,718 liters, and in many photos of the transformed cabin, you can see an almost flat horizontal surface.

The wheelbase of the described model of the Skoda Octavia family is 2679 mm. The distance between the front wheels is slightly larger (by 32 mm), in contrast to the rear. So, this figure between the front wheels is 1538 mm, and between the rear wheels 1506 mm. Octavia Scout cars are equipped with light alloy wheels, the size of which is R17. In this case, the tires must meet the parameters of 225 to 50. The fuel tank can hold up to 55 liters of fuel.

Performance indicators

Despite the high power rating of the Octavia Scout model, as well as its dynamic qualities, fuel consumption is below average for vehicles in this segment. This was made possible by the successful combination of the engine and the type of robotic gearbox. So, when driving in the city, the turbocharged Skoda Octavia Scout model with an engine volume of 1.8 liters consumes only 8.5 liters. When operating the car in suburban mode, this figure is 5.9 liters, and in the combined cycle, this figure is one liter more - 6.9 liters.

The manufacturer has regulated the maximum speed of the car up to 218 km / h. At the same time, the model can reach a speed of 100 km / h in just 7.8 seconds, which is considered quite an impressive indicator for an all-wheel drive car.

Exterior and interior design

To match its dynamic qualities, the described Octavia Scout also has the same expressive appearance, judging by the exterior photo. Compared to its predecessors, the new Skoda Scout model has become more aggressive with features of body parts that emphasize its speed qualities. The front bumpers are equipped with diffusers and have a more organic appearance compared to the previous model.

The differences in the interior from the standard model of the same generation are minimal when comparing the photos. It is worth noting only the presence of additional “Scout” nameplates and the trim of the interior elements from a different material (inserts that imitate wood have appeared).
